Hopefully this is the end of the Henry Owens era.
I have no time for anyone who is terrible enough to walk Jarod Saltalamacchia (which in turn leads to 5 runs for the other team).

Henry almost got out of there, but I guess that's sadly just his story thus far. He's almost a MLB pitcher.

I wouldn't have walked Cabrera, but hey, that's just me.

So I haven't been paying real close attention to this season, but I tuned in today and see that we decided to intentionally walk a batter with a 141 wRC+ in order to load the bases for a batter with a 154 wRC+, with a very BB-prone pitcher on the mound, and... Well, I'm wondering. Does anyone think John Farrell is maybe not the best manager? I just wonder if that idea has been bandied about by any chance.

Ok, this came undone fast. But... Am I out of line in saying I think Owens looks better? A few walks with pitches that look close. Yes, a bomb to Upton on a very bad pitch. But his curve looks better, his fastball has been up to 92, but a reasonable 90 much of the game. I had been really down on him, but I wonder still if he could end up like Pomeranz. I suppose I am thinking he might be worth looking at on slightly longer timelines?

Miguel Cabrera has a better reputation so you should walk him and face JD Martinez.. it's the same reason why Hanley Ramirez should be higher in the order than Jackie Bradley.

Owens hasn't pitched as bad as the final line will look like.

I don't disagree with that. On the other hand, if there's trade value that exceeds the taxi value, you go for it. As it stands, DD has done a great job of putting himself in a very strong position this coming winter. The 2017 roster can easily be filled from players in the organization now and there would still be excess value which makes for great ways to tinker with upgrades. Besides the starting five, we also have Owens, Johnson, Elias, Buchholz (if they exercise the decently priced option), Kelly and Haley. Either CVaz or Swihart is likely to be gone, having both Hernandez and Dubon is a luxury when you have Holt. Assuming Bradley doesn't get traded, Moncada will be at third. That means for first/DH, we have Hanley, Shaw, Travis, Craig & Panda which assumes we don't re-sign Hill. That's a very strong hand to be playing with. We're essentially ending the season looking close to set for next year. How often does that happen ? I agree with 1 amendment, Because we have Holt and Hernandez and Dubon one of three becomes tradebait much like the scenario at catcher.

I'm guessing one or the other will be part of a 2,3,4 for 1 package.
