Have I mentioned how much I love Chris Young?

Gotta agree with Guidas on Moncada. 3 strikeouts today and in that last AB he missed a fat pitch Mookie would have creamed. He seems to struggle with off speed stuff, which is to be expected at this point in his career. Just flat out played by an experienced MLB pitcher. I'd rather have Shaw in there today.
I'm thinking they thought they would snaggle a win today and give Moncada some PT.
Wow, huge fat pitch to Young. We'll take more of those please.

Ross should've come in as the 8th man in the lineup, not the 9th. Maybe they didn't care if they were going to PH for both spots in the 8th. Why burn a C unnecessarily? That way, if they want to give Leon the "day off" they could pinch hit him and put in somebody else as C, and still have another one available if they want to PH later. Yeah, you're right. I didn't think that through.

Well, the book is out on Moncada: he can't hit off speed pitches right now. He's working counts, which is a good sign, but he has a lot of work to do.
I'm not complaining. He's only 21 after all. But those who expect an impact hitter right away, I think that's a little optimistic.

Should you pinch run Hernandez for Hill?

Farrell with the great pinch hit call. Love it.

Unreal. Leon swinging at complete trash that whole AB.
What a joke.

Well, K rates may not mean as much as they used to, but there are still times where K's kill you. And the Sox have had that problem in spades this season getting the guys in from 3rd.

How many ways can a team not be able to score. They have must have experienced every type.

Seriously, Go away Xander.
You went up there afraid to swing the bat.

I don't think I've ever had less confidence in a guy hitting .300 than I do with Xander right now.

Poor bitch.. Looks back at his dugout after the second called strike! What do you want your manager to do something about it?

I think Moncada will even struggle with the fastballs he gets until he fixes his contact rates and ability to hit off speed stuff, which may never be much above mlb average to me. I think he will be a talented player but he's not going to see balls grooved for him. He's going to be behind in the count a lot. He's very young and may well develop with all the tools he has but I don't think it is likely to be this year.

Classic Farrell.
Pitch hits Sandy Leon rather than your best hitter David Ortiz....then doesn't leave Sandy Leon in the game.

Right down the middle Bogaerts. Come on! Not according to my pitch tracker. Backdoor slider at the knees toward the outside corner. Sometimes you get pitched tough. The pitch he missed over the heart of the plate was pitch 2, which he fouled off. Xander is struggling. I think I'd give him a day off the last game of this series, so he can have two days to chill out before the sprint to the finish begins. I think he could really use the rest and rejuvenation.
