I just find it funny that when I translated that article, I found out it was a article that was accusing Pablo being a homosexual. Now I really don't care if Pablo is gay or not, let him wear pink bathing suits and do whatever he wants. The funny part about it is that if this becomes a story, it would once again bring Pablo into the spotlight of controversy or criticism or whatever you want to call this story. He's been part of controversy every year he's been here. First year he was criticized for his play on the field. The second year he comes into camp looking like a balloon and started controversy with that and then went down for the year with a shoulder injury. Now the third year stories could come out about Pablo being gay apparently. At least I can live with this year's controversy, if that's the case. Just perform on the field and do whatever you want besides eat your way out of shape again.

It could hypothetically affect any future trade value. There were always rumors about Piazza but he did just fine.

I know you say that but really that one basketball player that used to play for the Celtics publicly came out and there was weeks of coverage of it. Baseball hasn't had a guy come out publicly yet I don't think. I just hate to see a story like that soak up that much press. I hope you're right though.

Well, from a different perspective, he does look considerably less obese.

I wonder how much weight he's dropped by now? Has to be at least 40 lbs. I hope he keeps it up, but at this point I would suspect his training should be functional and geared towards the upcoming season.

Given his former body profile, losing the weight he did was the most functional thing he could have done this offseason. Now at least he might be able to function.

I'm hopeful, but still a little skeptical, that it all makes a difference. It has to help his mobility I would think. The batting skills are something else again. He's never been a patient hitter. That worked when he could hit just about anything around the plate. If that ability has eroded he won't be sitting that far above replacement. I guess we'll know soon enough.

He's one of those guys that used to be able to hit balls out zone. You can't tell me that him being 50 plus pounds overweight didn't effect his ability to reach down and hit those pitches. Sure he might have declined slightly, but 2015 was way more the result of him being massively overweight than his skills just disappearing overnight. You can't watch his 2014 playoff performance and really think 2015 was just his skills eroding can you? Ortiz proved that hard work pays off. He was so good late in his career because he worked as hard as anyone at staying in shape and keeping his skills sharp. Sandoval did nothing but get fat, he put in almost no work to be a good player and it showed. He's now putting in a ton of work. If he stays in shape I expect a comeback player of the year award.

That looks legit 215 Pablo which would enter into "best shape of career" territory.
That has me excited, don't care much about furthering a rumor which questions his personal relationship choices.
He looks like a fighter that had trouble cutting to 265, that has now moved (hopefully healthily, over a year or so) down to the 205 LHW class.
Basically the reverse of Alistair Overeem, but I'm getting ahead of myself

Looking back on the Jason Collins situation....He did not have a problem with his teammates or the fans. It was the media circus that was the problem. I agree with Umass, if an athlete wants to come out I would hope he would.

I don't know where this gay stuff came up. That person snuggling up to him from behind doesn't look like an hombre to me.

America, but Africa and the Middle East. They person "snuggling up" to/with Pablo has a bun for a dew and some hand gestures that may indicate more than I comprehend. Lifestyle preference aside, a big year from Sandoval bodes well for the RS, given that this guy is one of the few players left on this team with a track record of success In the post season
