How quick flores gets to the bigs I think is contingent on how quick he develops , obviously. But, the sox have 2 young catchers now, so there is no need to rush the kid. Not the same as looking at rushing Devers to the bigs because we have no 3rd baseman. I think the benchmark would be 5 years, referring to sanchez.

Sounds like he won't sign this year, though.

Wait, why does this kid have a bat in his hand and not trying to pitch? That family was born to pitch.

I mean, it's not two Luis Basabes, but Denny Daza and Danny Diaz is going to get a bit confusing.
There's no way one of us doesn't screw this up on the podcast at some point.

With all due respect to Denny Daza and Danny Diaz, that totally sounds like a jobber tag team who would get squashed weekly by Demolition, The Rockers, and maybe even the Bushwackers on WWF Superstars. (Bryan El Matador will win via disqualification against Rick Martel in the main event).
Also, the placement of the Dominican flags on that graphic is unfortunate.

You mean right when Black Sabbath "Iron Man" hits, then Hawk and Animal run into the ring and clean house on the two jobbers. Making them earn there meager wages in less than five minutes.

Love the photo. An ecological tidbit: there are no pines south of the equator (and only two isolated pockets of fir in Africa of all places). Instead, there's a completely different genus of conifers, Araucaria. Those trees you see are all Norfolk pine, a favorite house plant here in the US. It's native to New Zealand and has been extensively planted here and across the Southern Hemisphere. There are 19 other species in the genus, such as Brazilian pine (which isn't). My favorite, which grows very well here in Oregon, is the monkey puzzle - native to the Andes:

I hope the Sox don't lose their IFA pool $ for the next 2 years for that "premature" picture.

Never heard of this guy, so take with a grain of salt:
Alvaro Gonzalez was tied to the Tigers by BA and MLB.com

Alvaro Gonzalez was linked to DET by Badler. Ranked 39. Says he has a big arm but makes high effort throws. Funky hitting mechanics. Not a lot of power expected.

Looking at the videos of the prospects from Venezuela not named Daniel Flores, I was particularly impressed by the Danny Diaz clips. the others looked athletic, but did not have the "wow" factor like Diaz does. He is a very impressive athlete for a 16-year-old. I suspect that they will easily show him how to eliminate that hitch between fielding the ball and throwing.

Starting to prepare myself for the possibility that we may need to trade something legit to get back all this cap space. Flores, Diaz, Flores, and Gonzalez expected to receive ~6.8M on their own.....it sure seems like we'll trade for our max space of 8.3M or very close.

According to that article, the Red Sox have signed Daniel Flores for $3.1M, Danny Diaz for $1.6M, and Antoni Flores for $1.4M already, exceeding the hard cap which makes no sense to me.
