I was about to say what a catch by Mookie, but that ball hit a fan and went right into his glove. Fan interference?

It's not all bad luck with Porcello. He's given up his share of homeruns. His command is off this year. He leaves to many pitches right in the middle of the plate to be hit.
Guess it doesn't matter. The Red Sox scored all their runs for him last year anyways. Porcello has a shot at being a 20 game loser this year strangely enough.

CC handcuffing this lineup is beyond frustrating. Maybe it isn't our A team and I know he has been pitching well lately, but come on, no runs.

Our offense amazes me with it's ability to make average pitching look great! Very sad!

ugh....Leon continues to regress. Regress? or is he just being Leon? The funny thing about this is that Leon is much better hitter when batting RH than LH heh

Rick Porcello has already given up 14 homeruns this year and is on pace to give up over 30 homeruns. While he has been very unlucky, he has also hasn't been very good in keeping the ball in the ballpark.

This is simply one of those black hole games in any team's season. Utterly unmemorable...nothing at all good to say.
....edited to add we have found this year's Mujica (last year it was Abad).
So Blaine Boyer time means might as well go to bed.

Just a general observation.
I was hoping I would warm to OB this season. But, to me, he is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the press covering the Red Sox in Boston and makes the games borderline unwatchable. All that is left for me is hoping he realizes the difference between pushing and pulling a ball...
As for the game goes no shame in being shutdown by Warren Spahn. /sarcasm

Is there anyway to fix Porcello? He's not a disaster by any means, and still chews up innings.

Is there anyway to fix Porcello? He's not a disaster by any means, and still chews up innings. Sure - tell him to throw low and away on 0-2 pitches and keep the FB off the middle of the plate in general. Thant and the rest of the staff needs to get rid of the hat high FB on 0-2. It fools no one.

While I admit it's been kind of nice to watch a third baseman who can actually play third base for a few weeks, Deven Marrero is 1 for his last 20 (.050/.050/.100) and is now at .159/.198/.305. You can hit like that and be above replacement level, but you need to also be pitching to do it.

n/m, this appears to be about the media, not fans. If he feels he has been wronged, after being accessible, then that is his right.

I didn't read the same thing you did. Hey, if he stays and becomes Eddie Murray, I'm fine with that as long as he performs. I think the people who get most upset when a player doesn't talk to reporters are reporters. I couldn't care less. Just play ball. But reporters are like pack animals, too, and defend their own almost to an individual (for the most part). I have to believe this may wear down Price, and could affect his opt-out decision. I reserve the right to be completely wrong on this.

Agreed on reporters. Whoever once said Boston has a penchant for eating its own was right. The fact that a player makes big bucks shouldn't give carte blanche...and there are consequences for crossing the line. If Price leaves some will say he is ungrateful or too thin-skinned or soft. But I wouldn't blame him if his limits were violated.

A little more from Shaughnessy, who I almost never waste my time reading: www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2017/06/07/piling-david-price-makes-sense/67SjEThQydBMdO9n9E6wGM/story.html?event=event12Do you feel like people are rooting for you to succeed? “I know I’ve got 24 guys in this clubhouse and all our coaches rooting for me, and my family and my friends. That’s all I need. Whatever anybody else wants to do, that’s on them. I’m fine. I’m at peace.’’ But do you like pitching for the Boston Red Sox? “I love this team. We’ve got a really good team. I like the organization. Everybody’s been there for me for the entire time through the ups and downs. Everything. They’ve shown a tremendous amount of support for me, so I’m going to give it back.’’ My Prediction: If he's healthy at the end of 2018 and he still feels this way about the fans, he'll opt out.

But I wouldn't blame him if his limits were violated. One thing I've never seen - what unfair or over-the-line reporting has there been on Price since he signed? I'm sure there's hot-takey stuff on the radio, but has anything been printed that would reasonably draw his ire? I note that he went after Drellich last night, whose tone has been... different... since he started doing TV. My assumption is that he said something on CSN that Price didn't like, because Drellich's tweets about Price not talking to media anymore were completely neutral and factual, and I'm not sure how those could've drawn Price's ire if he were being reasonable. To me, it's sports talk radio nonsense and Twitter that are getting to him, but I'm wondering if I've missed anything.

If he pitches well enough to opt out in 2019, I'd consider that a win/win for the Sox.
