Brilliant reverse Jinx! Hey - we are probably nearly neighbors. You can watch my tomatoes grow while Pomeranz delivers his slow pitches!

There sure are a lot of games that you just know right away that they're not worth watching. This is such a strange 1st place team. How is that for a reverse jinx from 5 min ago?

Mine are doing great this year other than a little too much rain. I have German johnsons, purple Cherokee, sungold cherry and some kind of black cherry (forget the name)

Keep it coming offense. Ian Kennedy is chicken fodder.

I usually do a big seedling giveaway in Durham each spring - didn't work out this year - too much travel.

I'd be interested in seedlings next year if you're doing it.

Sure do. My book is Epic Tomatoes (on Amazon) - I do a lot of speaking for garden groups, locally and nationally. I've been doing this for a long time and don't expect to stop any time soon..
OK - the game - Pom is actually on a fairly decent pitch count (for him)...offense, time to rev it up.

There is a bit of a catalyst in Marrero - if he can get to be a .240-.250 hitter (and if the line up can carry that), his defense really is so useful. He seems to be one of those that makes things happen.

Let's see if Farrell has the presence of mind to bring in Travis here. A double could break the game open.

Was gonna make a bad joke about how if that would have hit Butters the runner wouldn't have scored, but then remembered just how extinct the 3rd base pickoff move is.

Ugh, I will not be surprised when Pomeranz is lost for the season, given the 8 times that he has given us the scare already this year.

Holy smokes. Pomeranz is going to pitch into the 7th inning in a base ball game.

So Bogaerts is grooving, crushing stuff that's on the inner half. Tough decision for pitchers: keep doing that, or try to get him on the outer part of the plate. But we already know that he smacks those the other way. He's a dangerous hitter as he sorts all this out.

Holy smokes. Pomeranz is going to pitch into the 7th inning in a base ball game. Pom doesn't have the greatest stuff so he throws a lot of pitches hoping batters will swing at balls. Which they do but a 5 inning guy who gives up 2-3 runs per game is just fine with me. He's been a very good starter for us this season. Yes I understand he only goes 5 but I'd rather have him then someone who goes 7 and gives up 4-5 runs. Our bullpen is solid if he can't get us to the 6th in the game then that's all you can ask for.

I think his stuff is pretty damn good, but he needs his cutter to be a good to great starter. Kelly made the 7th a little more exciting than necessary. I'll take lucky though.

Nice hold: Kelly getting some luck on that bases loaded line out to Betts.
The Game: yeah, HR's are important.Four runs on 4h. RS need improvement at DH, 3B to take advantage of good pitching.

Oh crap. Barnes has completely lost his command of the strike zone.
