Someday they'll remake Face Off with Rodriguez and Manaea. Nobody would notice because they're the exact same pitcher.

It is probably my favorite bad movie. Everything about it is so absurd, especially the fact that there are basically no physical similarities between Cage and Travolta. And it just runs with it.

It is probably my favorite bad movie. Everything about it is so absurd, especially the fact that there are basically no physical similarities between Cage and Travolta. And it just runs with it. I think it's f-ing brilliant, even if it turns out (in retrospect) to be John Woo doing a greatest hits compilation for American audiences who hadn't seen his previous films. I hadn't seen those (and still haven't, in fact), and neither had my ex and my best friend, and (as a mix of serious cinephiles and -- my Buddy -- people with great taste) we all walked out of the theater stunned at how good it was. How is that? We're also all hard-core science fiction fans (the buddy being, years later, my fellow World Fantasy Award nominee). See, the thing is, people usually don't classify it as science fiction, but if you do (and you can and should), it's completely believable, because sci-fi is never believable. Which is to say that we are used to suspending our disbelief of an sf text. The "science" in science fiction films like Donnie Darko and The Prestige is even less credible, but they're my choices as the 3rd and 4th best sf films of all time. And since the face-changing science is already preposterous, if you really want Travolta and Cage to play the leads, then, as you say, you just run with it. I've gone on endlessly about the ridiculousness of casting Bobby Canavale as Al Pacino's son (in Danny Collins), but while watching Face/Off the first time it literally never occurred to me that Travolta and Cage had completely different bodies. Sci-fi viewers are used to turning off the part of the brain that thinks that way because the goal of many sf texts is to tell a story, given certain premises, that will explore issues you want to explore. So I'll totally agree that it's a bad action thriller film, because of its preposterous elements. But it's not an action thriller film; it's sci-fi with action and thrills, and it was probably the best example of that until Mad Max: Fury Road.

“@peteabe: #RedSox: Pedroia 2B, Young LF, Betts RF, Ramirez DH, Travis 1B, Bogaerts SS, Devers 3B, Vazquez C, Bradley CF, and Rodriguez LHP.” As you might guess from that lineup, Manaea has a career 210 OPS platoon split. A test of the ability of our alleged lefty-killers to inflict damage.

Not exactly a lineup that strikes fear into a team that just swept the Astros. Looking forward to next year when hopefully guys like Young and Holt are longer on the team. They also need to find a way to manage Ramirz abs so his 2019 option doesn't kick in.

Nunez out at least a week with a sprained knee and a bruised knee now according to Farrell.

No Andrew in the RHH lineup. Fen'Fan's delighted I'm sure.

Price to throw a 3 inning simulated game tomorrow also.
Farrell also mentioned MLB might postpone Friday night's game against the Rays to help give time for Tampa Bay to clean up after the hurricane and they will play a double header on Saturday or Sunday (I would guess more likely Sunday).

I really love Erod's changeup. That's definitely a plus pitch, much better than his slider.

I swear part of the reason I hate them so much is this kind of stuff.

How in the hell is Citi Field considered neutral for the Yankees away game vs. Tampa?!

How in the hell is Citi Field considered neutral for the Yankees away game vs. Tampa?! apparently, it was the Rays request. It makes sense from a travel perspective since they were in Boston already, but it is just infuriating to deal with.

And we might have to play a double header? Hell, play the games at Boston University.

Lot of hard contact. 4 straight hits was very cathartic.

How in the hell is Citi Field considered neutral for the Yankees away game vs. Tampa?! Tampa Bay plays 162 road games a season anyway.

How in the hell is Citi Field considered neutral for the Yankees away game vs. Tampa?! I don't get it either. I heard one reason why they just didn't flip-flop Series and play at NYY was because ther is an event(don't know which night it was) at Yankee Stadium. But, what do we think with the way MLB handled the NYY suspensions? Way to string some hits together here!!
