If it is true that MFY are paying 4 mill a year on that contract, then I will say the fix is in. Good god. Stanton and Judge for 4.5 million a year? Jeter should have waited until the deadline. Hell he saved 4 mill laying off half his org. I hope this isn't true. pretty sure that means $21M over the life of the contract. Yankees will be paying him $274M.

The Yankees are certainly picking up the bulk of the contract. That's the whole point of the Marlins doing this.

When was the last time the splashy offseason acquisition helped a team win the World Series? Recently, all the WS winners have been primarily led by players who were already with that organization simply improving. The Astros and Cubs were examples of younger teams coming up together and finally breaking out, and the Royals were similar except their breakout happened a bit later than those other two teams. Before them, the Giants and 2013 Red Sox were all about value acquisitions and internal improvement from their established players. It feels like the last team to win a WS after making the high profile moves of the offseason was the 2009 Yankees, and that was almost a different game.
The Yankees got tougher to beat, but the game changes very quickly and things rarely play out as predicted.

The Yankees get him for a song and a discount. Wonderful. Now the Yankees have turned the Sox strength of elite left handed starting pitching against them by loading up on elite power right handed hitting. Absolute B.S. I'm glad Derek Jeter did his old boss a favor again.

NIghtengale (GRAIN OF SALT ALERT) says Marlins paying $21M . And seriously, people, stop complaining about the Red Sox not trying to trade for him. He. Didn't. Want. To. Come. To. Boston. And. Had. A. Full. No-Trade. But how hard did the Red Sox try to convince Stanton? Not a lot of evidence the Red Sox made an honest effort. Also, isn't Stanton's reluctance to come to Boston precisely the point? Obviously the Boston media is part of the equation, but let's be honest, this team has been poorly run since '13 and players with leverage don't want any part of it.

What is your definition of poorly run? They are coming off of back to back division titles. If that's poorly run I would love to see what a well run team would look like.

I'm glad for everything but the Red Sox fans whining about it.

Commish needs to step in and overrule the trade as not in he best interests of baseball ... Bowie Kuhn is turning over in his grave.

There’s a real chance Judge turns back into a pumpkin this year.
Still a sad day.

Also the other positive is that it forces our hand in regards to signing Martinez.

Stanton also has a pretty lengthy injury history. I want to see the package going to Miami (and possibly any reactionary moves made by Boston) before I get too angry.

I just don’t want to hear Mazz or some other person on radio saying why didn’t the Sox go after him. He was gift wrapped to the MFY. What a joke of a package going back. Judge is still not proven.

Torres isn’t involved so can’t be that great of a package especially given that the contract is still going to be huge. Hopefully one of Adams, Sheffield, or Andujar is involved.
