Random thought as I go over some 2018 regular season stuff. Dylan Bundy just put up like a 5.50 ERA this year and I don't think anybody would be surprised if he gets traded to the Dodgers this offseason and then starts Game 1 of the 2019 World Series. I can't think of any other pitcher who has been as bad as he has who I am sure is good.

I can't think of any other pitcher who has been as bad as he has who I am sure is good. Let's take an incredibly in-depth look at his pitch type splits: hitters went .302/.371/.574 against the 1354 four seam fastballs he threw in 2018, while hitting .178/.216/.370 against the 722 sliders he threw. Well, I'm stumped. I don't think there's a #1 in there at this point, because his fastball really is quite pedestrian at this point and none of the other secondaries have been particularly effective for him, but if he just pitched backwards off that slider a little more I think it could make a world of difference for him. Or if the fastball plays up a little out of the bullpen, there's some Andrew Miller/Josh Hader style super-reliever potential there too. In any event, just get him off the Orioles. Get everyone off the Orioles.

Well, they've started in on that, near the top. The question is, does it reach high enough? The decision to re-sign Davis was pushed by Angelos himself with disastrous results. He'll still be on the books even with the manager and GM jettisoned. Tough slog for Baltimore.

The game seemed to have passed him by very quickly. He did decently well for the As and the first year or two in Boston, but his hitters certainly underachieved the past two years.

So Didi Gregorius is gonna be gettin' that Tommy John: How realistic is it that he'd be back fairly early in the season?

I've never heard of a position player who has to throw hard coming back from TJS after 7 months. In fact, I've never heard anyone who has to use their arm at all come back in less than a year.

Yeah Sherman has already wrote articles about the Yankees signing Machado now that Didi is going to miss a lot of time. I don't see how Didi can comeback so soon and be the player he was this year.

I believe he is a free agent after next year. He would be a world class fool to even consider risking his future. DH is a viable possibility.

I just have to say that every time my gf and I talk about Didi Gregorius, it's as if he's a comic book villain or Game of Thrones character. It's the best name in baseball.

Hard for me to properly comment on this with the restrictive swearing policy enforced by the moderating team at SoxProspects.com.

Hard for me to properly comment on this with the restrictive swearing policy enforced by the moderating team at SoxProspects.com. I can’t figure out your response. Syracuse, New York state version, is far from the Bronx. The Mets are definitely not the nyfy. Syracuse Mets fans are likely not fans of the nyfy, same as me. Is it the bank? Another publicly funded ballpark? Please enlighten me.

So I live in Syracuse, and see the Chiefs frequently, especially when the Sox are in town. Mets is almost the worst possible name. First off, there are very few Mets fans out here. They lag far behind the Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays, and maybe even the Phillies. So not a lot of people who are going to be buying Mets gear. It's not regionally appropriate, given the divide between the more, shall I say, "metropolitan" city and downstate area and upstate, which is really very rural, dotted with rust belt cities. And it is uncreative. I am totally fine moving on from the Chiefs, but this really seems like a missed opportunity to have some fun with it.
There is also a public funding aspect that makes me angry, yes. But that is a more subdued, rational anger.

If they do a good job of getting young kids to the ball and interact properly with them they will turn some kids into Mets fans. Now that takes a competent organization so it probably won’t work, but naming them the Mets makes a lot of sense.

I’d like to point out that Manny Machado is a complete dirtbag.

Dayton I'm sorry that your team is bad and that you're a bad GM but there's gotta be a better way to improve your organization than signing a dude who claims that the six year old girl he confessed to molesting was actually falsely accusing him.
