I feel like Singer is falling out of favor because he's been in the spotlight so long that folks have had the time to focus on the negatives about him. While I've always been suspicious of him as a 1/1 talent, getting him in the teens would be a steal.

While I've always been suspicious of him as a 1/1 talent, getting him in the teens would be a steal. There has definitely been a lot of inconsistency among the top tier of players. Ethan Hankins, who was seen as a top-5 type, hasn't been great this spring, but apparently flashed again this past week. I think there will be a lot of uncertainty this year, but we shall see.

Agreed. Also, the draft just looks to be pretty decent in general, especially in terms of arms. So the gap from say five to twenty is narrower than it is many years.

Jonathan Mayo Jonathan Mayo @jonathanmayo Mike Vasil, HS RHP from Boston area and a potential first rounder in this year's @mlbdraft, walked off the mound holding his right elbow in the 2nd inning of his start today. No news yet on the issue or its severity

Keith Law seems to agree. From Friday's chat:

I like the sound of him from the Fangraphs article you posted.

Addams could have a crazy high price tag. A team would have to not only buy out a promising football career where he was a five star recruit but a college experience that includes having your dad on staff. I don't know if that's slot money at the back end of round 1 or not. If it's a down top 10 I bet you see more signabilty picks there and those teams take advantage of the supposed high school depth the next few rounds.

Mize seems to be the consensus #1 at this point. Just checked his stat line and since the start of his sophomore year, he has 203 strikeouts and 15 walks in 151 2/3 IP. So that's neat.

No one steals Vandy's pitchers... gotta think if he goes 1st round, he told someone he was signable, right?

And not only can Beer hit (and his name is BEER!), but he's not at all the profile of the slugger who gets thrown over to first base because he's a terrible athlete (which you might think, because his name is BEER!). He was a world-class level swimmer in high school who ended up choosing baseball. I don't know if learning the outfield would be an option for him or if you'd keep him at first base to fast-track him, but this isn't like Pete Incaviglia or something (plus, his name is BEER!).

Well, he does have a 20 rating on his running skill on MLB. But that's not enough to offset his 80 grade name.

I never understand how wooden bats can't be adjusted to. If you can hit a ball hard with an aluminum bat, you can hit a ball hard with a wooden bat. Why would some people have a bigger problem with it than others? Obviously the ball isn't hit as hard with a wooden bat, but isn't the decrease in exit velocity easy to predict for every single hitter?

Why would some people have a bigger problem with it than others? Obviously the ball isn't hit as hard with a wooden bat, but isn't the decrease in exit velocity easy to predict for every single hitter? The point isn't just that exit velocity decreases with wood. I'm pretty sure wooden bats have a much smaller sweet spot, for one thing. You get punished a lot more for not hitting the ball on the sweet spot with wood than you do with alumninum, even with the BBCOR bats. Essentially, aluminum is able to hide more flaws than wooden bats do. Hitters who are better able to hit the ball consistently on the sweet spot do better with wood, is my understanding. I'm sure there are other points, but that's the one I remember (and was able to confirm with a quick google search, at least pre-BBCor).

I have watched konner pilkington pitch a good deal and unlike houck a year earlier, I think pilkington has the stuff to be a starting pitcher.
