I do feel like the umps cost Porcello a handful of strikes already, but he could be more around the plate.

I don't believe this......this is sarcasm, right ? No. It's going to be a painfully long season if we spend any amount of thought to what the Yankees do on top of what we do. I know that Boston fans can love pain/torture sometimes, but still.... I agree that we should not really worry about it until September, but I would rather be in 1st place. Additionally, hating the Yankees and seeing them lose is almost....i said almost....as fun as the Sox winning. I can't turn that off.

Come on Bogey.....need a big play.
Edit : Does it seem like X hits more grounders than most ? Some of you guys know how to figure that out.

I get that, and I get as much joy watching the Yankees lose as the next person, but when they are a really good team, watching them play and rooting for them to lose is statistically a disappointing affair.

Lopez is nasty. The White Sox are going to have a really good rotation by next year....

Well you can't win ballgames when your busy tripping over baseball bags with runners in scoring position.

Just to remind everyone, the White Sox are one of the very worst teams in baseball. However, giving up repeated walks (after 0-2 counts, no less) to thier substandard hitters actually plays in their strategy of how to win 62 games this year and take a series from one of the best teams in baseball. At home. Against Boston’s 1-2-3 starters.

Jesus, how many 60 mph hits are the White Sow going to get to go with 395 foot singles for the Red Sox?

Lopez is going to have to hang something here to JBJ if the Sox want to tie this game.
Double play was a killer by JDM.

I'm getting pretty tired of the Swihart experiment. That sub-.400 OPS isn't showing any sign of improving.

Wow that should have been gone. Probably is in any other ballpark. Maybe San Fransisco that's a double too.

I think Swihart is one of those guys who needs consistent ABs to recover his offensive talents. As a catcher that could be feasible but if he's not going to be a catcher, it's a big waste having him get sporadic ABs, not hit, and have his career whittled away to being a 25th man on the roster.
If the plan is to give him a lot more catching starts, then fine I'm on-board with seeing if he can steal the catching job away, but if that's not the plan, the Sox might as well get rid of him. It's not doing him or the Sox any good the way it is now.
I'd rather have Lind at this point, too. You know he can hit against righties and it's not like the Sox lineup is so awesome there's nobody to really pinch-hit for in a late/close situation.
I really hope the Red Sox don't lose a series at home to the win a third of your games White Sox.
And while I get that if you're rooting for the Yankees to lose, it's going to be statistically disappointing, I think it's kind of silly to pretend they're not there and that there is no difference between 1st place and 2nd place.
If you win that 1 game playoff and using your ace doesn't hamper you in the later rounds, then great. It worked out for the Yankees last year. They got the Wild Card and they were still playing when the Sox were done, so it goes to show you that finishing 2nd isn't exactly a death sentence.
But if you lose that damn playoff game - anything can happen in a 1 game playoff. Then it really sucks not to win the division.
I'd rather have 3 guaranteed games than 1. The bottom line, though, is you have to play well in October regardless of the seeding. The Sox haven't done that the past two seasons.

I am not trying to say that we should comfortably play for 2nd place, I just don't think we need to "screen watch" Yankees games in June.

Is Cora seriously pinch hitting Devers with f-ing Nunez?

Is Cora seriously pinch hitting Devers with f-ing Nunez? I thought about pinch hitting Travis and then putting Nunez in the field, but I don't think we're going to do well either way. We'd have a better chance with Betts or Pedroia batting injured imo.
