I thought about pinch hitting Travis and then putting Nunez in the field, but I don't think we're going to do well either way. We'd have a better chance with Betts or Pedroia batting injured imo. Devers was finally hitting the ball the last two games. I wouldn't pinch hit for him ever when he's not struggling. Yeah I don't get it. I'd rather see Devers swing right handed than to watch Nunez hit right now.

Our offense is MIA - Mookie's loss is really being felt.

Another hit that was less than 70 mph. This is ridiculous. White Sox should have 0 runs.

Workman will always have that sweet knucklecurve, even if he only has a 90 mph fastball these days.

How many of our pitchers have knuckle curves? Seems like quite a few.

Workman has really become a pitcher - using his tools well. Hope we get to see this all season.

The White Sox set up men are 3 times better than their closer. Can't hit their set up men it seems.

Just an awful game - poor clutch hitting (a return to 2017) and a bad miss in that 0-2 pitch by Barnes. Ugh - unavoidable to have some of these each season, but miserable to watch.

Ugh - that's that - playing down to the level of competition (below it, actually)

This team is nothing without Mookie and JD.

The last 4 games we were hit by the LOB desease, it happens to every team for some strech in the season, hopefully it won't linger with the return of Mookie.

I hope the Yankees lose all 5 of their makeup games. The Sox could be back behind the Yankees 2 or 3 games if they don't.

The series that I'm worried about is the Seattle one, not because of the Mariners record but because we"ll be facing 3 LH starters and this team can't hit southpaws (Pedroia's return should help down the road, he OPSed .930 last year)

Travis is not an MLB player and no "lefty-killer" vs. MLB left-handers. There is no one else on the bench or in the high minors who can challenge lefties right now. Lind may come along but the sample will be so small I wonder if he's worth adding to the 40 man, although I am confident they could drop Travis from it right now and no one would claim him. But with two righties out who have good to excellent OBP - Pedroia and Betts - this team is very vulnerable to LPH right now. They should've gone a minimum of 5-1 on this homestead agains such mediocre (Det) and awful (WS) teams.

Paxton vs the Red Sox lineup that struggles against lefties doesn't exactly make me feel great about their chances. If not Seattle, then you're talking potentially Verlander pitching that one game playoff, although I really would be surprised to see Seattle ultimately finish ahead of Houston. I think when all is said and done, with Ohtani out, the five teams that make the post-season will be able to set their rosters without the added pressure of just trying to get in.

Way too early to start thinking about these things (ranking, WC game, who starts and who doesn't) Baseball is the greatest game in the world because it's so unpredictable and stressing about these things now won't help IMHO.

I'm getting pretty tired of the Swihart experiment. That sub-.400 OPS isn't showing any sign of improving. I'm ready to see Adam Lind when Mookie comes back. He has a sub .700 OPS in AAA ball. Giving a roster spot to players with his type of skill set is a dangerous thing.

I would consider his .700 OPS to be part of a very small sample size especially based on a larger sample size of his career and last season in which he played quite well. As far as being a 3 true outcomes type player with old player skills, so what? It's not like the whole bench is like that. At some point you need somebody with some pop off the bench against righties, somebody you could actually start if need be when injuries hit. No Lind against righties means more Nunez (at 2b) with Holt in RF. Don't see how that's particularly helpful. And unless Swihart gets more than sporadic playing time I don't see how he's going to be an offensive asset either. Only Brock Holt has been productive off of the bench and they need him at 2b against righties.
