Didn’t we just go through a week of reporters asking Bogaerts why he’s sliding head first and Cora said they’ve asked him multiple times not to do so!? I agree - bring up Lin if Xander will be out more than two days. A bum hand will turn him into 2017 second half Xander. I'm inclined to agree with you but the Sox could carry Lin for a while anf just option Scott. Lol called that one ;-)

I wonder if focusing so much on launch angle teamwide has further messed with JBJ’s swing and approach. He’s had some incredible bad luck this year, but I’ve always seen him as an albeit streaky singles-doubles guy who has thw power to run into 15-20 HRs. Focusing on launch angle more may have too many of these guys (Devers included) may be minimizing the “make contact/walk/OBP” approach to the peril of JBJ and some other players. I’m beginning to wonder if tge league even values high OBP singles/doubles hitters anymore. Yep. But if they don't now, they will in the future. This stuff is cyclical by nature. The amount of K's in this league and the lack of old school fundamentals is not sustainable. At some point, it will come back in vogue. See I think that skill set is SO valuable in this grip it and rip it culture. Sox could put a high OBP player like a Nimmo or Votto in the one-hole, bat Mookie second, JD third, Beni, then Xander or Moreland and away we go.

Cora needs to institute a fine system for sliding in head first. The injury risk is too high and players need to be held accountable.

Yankees rolling over for the Rays. It's getting annoying because they're only 14.5 game back.

I'm willing to bet that Wright will have a better pitch count through his 3 1/3 innings than Rodriguez will.

Lineup looks really thin. Eduardo has to keep it to one or two runs scored for the Mariners in this game.

Cmon Devers. You need to put in a better at bat than that
Leake just pitched a 4 pitch walk and you swing first pitch at a ball that hit you

I thought the rule was a HBP unless it was strike 3? It clearly hit his foot.

I thought the rule was a HBP unless it was strike 3? It clearly hit his foot. Not if the player swings. It's always a strike and dead ball then.

106 mph to the pitcher that's about 50 feet away. JBJ can't buy a hit.

Mistakes and oddities. Such is baseball. From Cora's inexplicable decision to have Lin lead off, horrible errors, Devers HBP snafu, JD's barely losing the bag, Erod's lack of concentration, and Betts and Bogie out at the same time, to an array of Mariner mishits and sheer luck, every baseball game is new. Of course, I'm infuriated. But still. What a great sport. At least the Yanks lost.

This is one complete crap BABIP game. Yes, this is a fanboy speaking, but it seems like that for the last couple of weeks or so. Especially JBJ. I said that a couple of days ago about him but today again it's apparent. I'm really frustrated. I'm also frustrated with a DH who is one of the worst players in MLB. No for some really over the top venting, send E-Rod to Pawtucket with orders than he can come back 5 days after he gets through 6 innings on 90 pitches. I know, I know, but I did say I'm speaking from frustration and it is a game day thread!
