Tim Collins has been DFA'd. The Sox should make a small trade and try and get him. Why? He's not even as good as Marcus Walden. I think I'd rather have Tyrion Lancaster, who is only slightly shorter. I swear I read it "Tyrion Lannister"

Nice solid game. Sounds like E-Rod got reacquainted with his changeup.
30 games over .500 88 games into the season. Quite astounding. They have a good shot at winning their 60th game before losing their 30th with Sale opposing Hammel next game.
They haven't done that since 1978. So this is easily the best Red Sox (regular season) since the 1978 Sox. Hopefully the 2018 edition has a better finish. With Cora not running his players into the ground the way Zimmer did, I'd say they have a much better chance.

The next time Buckley or Shaughnessy try to say this team is "unlikeable," please post this again.

I googled “Red Sox likeable” and, at the top, I got results from 2007, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2017. All except the 2016 article seemed to imply that the Red Sox were not likeable, while the 2016 Red Sox were likeable.

Likeable is usually an indication of how much the team wins, but at times, the media finds some kind of scab to pick at until it bleeds.

Yeah I like all of the Red Sox teams. The 2012 was tough to watch though. Valentine was just awful to listen to. Ortiz was out after the all star break. Pedro Ciriaco and Darnel McDonald was starting every game by August it seemed.
If I had to pick one team that was unlikable, that would be the one but that was because they stunk and couldn't score runs.
I loved watching the bad teams in the ealry 2000's and that was considered unlikable Red Sox teams. You had Nomar, Pedro, Lowe, Manny. You also had Carl Everett exploding (which is funny to me), then making fun of Dan Shaughnessy.
There's always a good storyline to follow in baseball, especially in this town.
This team is just plain fun to watch because of their dominance, like in 2007. You also have Price being sarcastic and being a pill to the media, which is also funny to me. I haven't missed a game all year, missed some innings here and there, but man this is good stuff. I don't know what's unlikable about it. Maybe the Yankees being just as good as the Sox might it. I'd rather they be in the basement, but you can't control that.

If the Red Sox and Astros were just crushing everyone, this regular season would be less interesting. Like the Patriots two decade domination of their division results in the regular season being an afterthought.

I love to see the Yankees be terrible. That's probably where I'm different than most. I hate to see them be good. I'd rather compete with the Blue Jays or someone else for the division. I like dominance also. I have a lot of fun watching Sox teams pummel teams because I know it doesn't happen every year, so the very few years I can enjoy it, I will.
I love seeing the Patriots win constantly. It never gets old for me.

Just remember that Hembree is all that's left of the haul the Sox got for Jake "Duckboat" Peavy. I'm not sure what your point is here. They traded Peavy for two players. You make it sound like they traded for five guys or something. They moved him in the middle of the 2014 season when he was pitching like crap and about to be a free agent.

By my count, excluding the Red Sox, the Yankees have 10 remaining games against teams that are above .500. Sheesh.
Red Sox themselves only have 17 (excluding the Yankees). Boy there are a lot of bad teams out there.
(And this is the sort of thing I look up when I DEFINITELY have a deadline coming up. Okay, back to work...)

why, just because he's a lefty ? He has no options. Yeah it'd be nice to have a hard throwing lefty in the bullpen. You could always option Velazquez. He was at 91-95 in DC. I'm all for lefties, but we have better options from the right side. If we go lefty I think it should be Felipe.

My fault, I should have put haul in "" marks. I must have forgotten that this is a "serious" place.

Just remember that Hembree is all that's left of the haul the Sox got for Jake "Duckboat" Peavy. Heath Hembree has produced 1.8 War over 184.2 innings, and there is four years of team control left. Leave Poor Heath alone.

Hembree is a pretty good middle reliever and he can go multiple innings. I am not sure why people don't like him so much. Most teams don't have middle relievers as good as him.

He is durable to his credit and he strikes people out, but he has no options and he gets hit really hard. Sure if you want to compare him to most middle relievers, you're doing good, but this is a area where the Sox have depth in. He is arbitration eligible after the year. He's also a guy who has normally has drastic splits between RHB and LHB (normally gets pounded by lefties). I just think in the Sox case, they could do better. If they don't think they can, then fine pay him and keep him, but his time in Boston is coming closer to the end as he gets more expensive as he goes along here.

The Sox have a total of 5 arms in the minors who are close to being ready (in a year or so) or are ready to be in the Boston bullpen really soon.
Bobby Poyner Williams Jerez Mike Sharwaryn Ty Buttrey Travis Lankins Austin Maddox (when he recovers from injury slowly but surely)
This list doesn't even includes a guy like Beeks who could easily become a bullpen arm if the Sox needed him to be or wanted him to be (for production up in the majors). It also doesn't included Durbin Feltman who could be ready by mid season next year and could fly through the minor leagues.
The Sox have Workman, Thornburg, Carson Smith, Matt Barnes all under team control for at least 1 more year.
To say the Sox have middle relief depth is a big understatement. They are the one team that could afford to trade a Heath Hembree.
