Meadows and Glasnow going to the Rays. Wow. Plus another piece.

Meadows and Glasnow going to the Rays. Wow. Plus another piece. They’ll flip a controllable Pham next year when he’s hitting a bit better too. Smart FO

Great, now we're going to have to rehash the 2013 1st round pick every time we play the Rays.

Glasnow is absolutely going to be a pitcher who turns into an Ace in Tampa. Will be traded 3 years from now for the next ace.

Seems like a steep price for a team not in the race.

Too bad that the Rays made some nice moves it looks like. Seems like a dumb move by the Pirates.

Great, now we're going to have to rehash the 2013 1st round pick every time we play the Rays. If you live in the Ray's market area and forced to listen to Dewayne Staats when Boston plays them, you will 100% certainly be hearing that every time Boston plays them. No other announcer, other than Phil Rhizzuto ever got/gets on my nerves as bad as Staats. The classical definition of a homer.

They're only 3.5 back of a wild card spot and have been very good recently. Also, Archer has a pretty reasonable contract moving forward

Great, now we're going to have to rehash the 2013 1st round pick every time we play the Rays. Don't worry. The Red Sox will trade Trey Ball to TB for Austin Meadows and all that talk will disappear.

Something is in the water for NL teams. It seems everyone of them even with a tiny chance of making the playoffs is going for it or not selling off just in case. Lot of GMs are going to look bad.
Edit: It could make for a very interesting August trading period.

4:00. I'd say within 15 minutes we'll hear that the Sox made no moves today.

I'm ok with the Sox not making any moves today. I'm surprised that the Yankees didn't appear to pull anything off.

Mookie not in lineup, what does it MEAN? ? Means you have to see if Mike Trout is still an Angel.

Means he needed a rest which has been obvious since the All Star break. This way he gets 2 days off.

Wow the Rays did very well for Chris Archer. I guess the Bucos think they have a decent shot. At least, the Pirates have Archer under control for quite a while. Boy the Orioles know how to blow up a team quick, but they really had no real option. Their team, and organization, needs a facelift. Maybe a lobotomy!

Posted this in the Fangraphs chat..
Long story short. Delmon Young traded for Matt Garza traded for Chris Archer and now traded for Glasnow/Meadows. Pretty good #1 overall pick if you ask me.
That being said I think the return is a little underwhelming for the Rays. Glasnow or Meadows have not proven themselves yet. My hatred for the Rays leads me to believe the Rays will turn them into good players, but I thought they could have gotten more. Archer is under control through 2021 after his 2 option years.

@jmastrodonato Dombrowski said the deal that was close last night was for a reliever that he felt would’ve been a big upgrade but that club decided not to trade that player. Nationals?
