Sounds like the Sox just picked up Ian Kinsler. Came across as Cora was doing his post game interview. Link

Good news. I’d probably prefer Beltre, but I’ll take Kinsler and he’s probably the better fit.

I guess that closes the Dozier door, but so far I'm ok with that. Now for most of our least favorite thing on this website.....waiting to see what prospects we gave up.

I guess that closes the Dozier door, but so far I'm ok with that. Now for most of our least favorite thing on this website.....waiting to see what prospects we gave up. The Nunez to Kinsler glove upgrade is going to be massive, and Kinsler has been much better the past couple of months. He is also a pull hitter himself and limits grounders. Still an upgrade. Buttrey stings a bit. Best of luck to him. Definitely a fair deal.

Two relievers who will never be high leverage guys (if MLB guys at all) to fill the hole at 2nd?
Deal done without blinking an eye.

Guess the Sox weren't that high on Buttrey. Kind of surprised they even had to pay that much in talent if they're taking on the rest of Kinsler's money. Guess we don't have to debate if they're over the luxury tax limit.
I know he's been hitting better lately, but at least this should solidify the infield defense at 2b.

They leverage those 2. Still have Lakins.

That seems like a lot for a rental type. Ohh well.

I'm surprised that we gave up both Buttrey and Jerez. I thought it'd be one or the other depending on the money, but they were recently ranked 19th and 23rd in a not so great farm system, so it could have been a lot worse. They're also both pretty old by prospect standards anyway.

Dombrowski loves trading for players he's familiar with.
I think this tells all of us that Pedrioa isn't coming back this year.

That seems like a lot for a rental type. Ohh well. Unless the Angels are picking up some of Kinsler's salary. The Angels are including cash - Link

DD did a good job clearing two 40 man spots too. I agree.

Those two guys were never going to be impact players. The money involved and luxury tax implications are the bigger loss. But it looks like they are not worried about that anymore. Givening our situation it makes sense to go for it now. Hopefully they can get a reliever in here now.

I was hoping Jerez would make it to Boston. From the game logs at Pawtucket, he could either be dominant or hit pretty hard.
Jrrusso mentioned Lakins. He would probably go to Pawtucket now, right?

That seems like a lot for a rental type. Ohh well. That is a lot to you? Neither of these guys were ever profiled as high leverage relievers. All it takes to find relief pitching who can fill the middle relief role is money, and not a lot of money. This is a no brainer.

They were 19th and 26th on our SP rankings (technically 18th and 25th when you take out Beeks) but both seemed to rise quite a bit since their previous ranking.

With the infield defense upgrade, now you can pick Ziegler and his sexy +70% GB rate.
