They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management[/quote]

So in terms of *making the playoffs,* this is one of the biggest series of the year.
Your other competitors for the last wild card spot is Texas (LOL), Oakland, and here in Celeveland.
I mean, some Sox fans here love to dance around the fact that the Sox have over a 70 percent chance of making a wild card spot (playoffs), but there's 6 teams in the AL with a record above .500 right now.
So you're either excited that this a good team or you're excited that the AL is a toxic wasteland mostly.
So sweep Cleveland and Oakland/Tampa Bay might be your competition for 2 wild card spots.

How is Zach Plesac not a top 30 prospect in the Indians system according to MLB? His stats in the minors look impressive and it's not like the Indians have the best system. I like the fact that Holt is back in the lineup at 2nd and Chavis is at 1st. Is Darwinzon still with the club? If so, I wonder what the plan is..
Looks like Darwinzon was sent back to AA to make room for Holt. Makes sense.

I know nothing about him, but he was a 23-year-old in high-A ball and has all of 79 IP above that level. (In other words, the kind of pitcher the Red Sox always seem to get like 1 run and 4 hits against.)

For about a 3 year period, Dan was one of the best closers in baseball and more importantly, a closer on my rotisserie team.

A statistical oddity for the 2019 RS:
Their starting lineup includes OPS' of: Vaz, 114; Moreland, 124; Chavis, 133; X, 128; Devers, 136; Mookie, 134; JDM, 134; and 10D, 101.
They must have a juggernaut offense, right? Wrong. The team OPS is only 104. That's thanks to Nunez, Pearce and JBJ having significant numbers of PAs and stinking it up at 30, 33 and 39 respectively. In fact, the highest non-starter OPS belongs to the departed Swihart, who was at 83.

Cleveland promoted 24-year-old starting pitcher Zach Plesac on Saturday. He’s the son of Dan Plesac who earned three All-Star appearances during an 18-year career. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/another-son-of-mlb-star-promoted-to-the-majors/ar-AABVbVvEDIT: Everybody except them (and Heyman) has him as a nephew.

They're one of the best hitting and pitching teams in baseball.

Rough start.
I need Bogey to make that play, but that was a really tough one. He tried to get in front of it and just didn't have enough time to play it that way.

The Sox haven't had consistent good infield defense all year long.

The Sox haven't had consistent good infield defense all year long. And this one cost the Sox a run at least and more pitches for Porcello.

Something to keep an eye on: Benintendi is striking out more than ever before. We're talking a 10%jump here.

We're talking a 10%jump here. he's looked pretty lost on some swings and misses a surprising amount of times this year The Sox made an effort to bring back the team from last year (minus Kimbrel). I know Cora's strategy was to move Beni to leadoff and Betts to second in the lineup given the numbers. Cora said yesterday that while Beni isn't having a Beni year, he is leaving Beni leading off and possibly at times Chavis leading off against lefties. But, why not try the same order as last year just for the hell of it to see if things change.
