Lol our worst nightmare come true. Until Scherzer isn't a Yankee this trade deadline, I'll assume he's going to be a Yankee until he's not traded there. As the article states, NATS ownership won’t allow it. They think they are buyers. I don't know if I disagree with them. I know the Nats have been weirdly snakebitten forever, but it would still be super weird for a team with that level of talent trade away the best pitcher in baseball when they are by no means out of the race. And, their biggest obvious problem is the bullpen, which in theory should be the easiest thing to fix in-season.

They're only 3.5 out of the 2nd and 4.0 out of the 1st, but when you're dealing with that many teams it's hard to get movement. Just look at the Sox. They've been playing great as of late and they've barely moved ahead of a crowded pack. I doubt they'll do anything until close to the deadline anyways so if they go on a 15 game win streak this will be moot and if they continue to lose games then they'll trade him.

With Taylor dealing, unsure of why it is Brasier time. Danger time again.

name a more iconic duo than Brasier and bad 0 - 2 pitches that miss their spot in the zone by a mile. Hope he can get Vlad out now and please keep this a 1-run game

Here’s a situation where I actually believe in the bunt. Man on third with good speed, 1 out 1 run down.

Well, not with Devers up, though.

Vaz swings through ball 4 - ugh. That pitch wasn’t even close.

Deven Marrero, of all people...that was a bad draft pick but at least it looks like they got something good out of it. I was a huge proponent of the low/no-cost approach, and this is exactly why. Because relievers are largely fungible, and if you know how to tinker with your own (Workman, Barnes, Walden) or pick up ones you *can* tinker with/develop (Brewer, Taylor), you save a TON of money and talent. You just need the volume and the right coaching.

Also, Bogey on pace for 30 HR, 50 doubles, and close to .300/.400/.500. Man, is he looking like a steal on his extension.

Devers says one leg, no problem. I would have trusted Devers with one eye, one leg, and no fingers over a healthy bodied Nunez.

I mean, you could have signed Holland for 3 million and have 1 extra win for it. Happy for all the guys being productive lately, but continuing on with the "spending the money in the bullpen was a mistake" narrative is getting old.

There's bullpen arms you can sign for money that is productive, but yes there's only one way to skin a cat. *eyeroll*
