Sox bullpen has thrown a lot of innings lately. Last thing they need is an extra innings game when Sale only went 5.

I think he's #4 in almost no-cost relief pitchers that the Red Sox have accumulated. Better than signing Cody Allen for $7M and releasing him in June. I mean, you could have signed Holland for 3 million and have 1 extra win for it. Happy for all the guys being productive lately, but continuing on with the "spending the money in the bullpen was a mistake" narrative is getting old. Yeah, but you’d have had to have picked JUST him. Of course some of those lower-cost guys are going to be worth it. But the percentages aren’t great. Didn’t you advocate for Brach? Look where he’s at. It’s not fair to retrospectively, out of 15-20 available guys, pick the one bargain and say “we coulda had him.” Spending money on the bullpen IS a mistake, for the most part. Most people argued for signing different high-end guys (I did too, tho with the intent to flip them and have guys like Brewer and Taylor et al in AAA ready to take their places), under the presumption this bullpen would be awful. They’re excellent, instead. Not “the best,” but within sniffing distance (~0.5 WAR) of it. Just like TB’s bullpenning/opener strategy last year, this is proof of viability of the volume/development approach.

I don't know if I disagree with them. I know the Nats have been weirdly snakebitten forever, but it would still be super weird for a team with that level of talent trade away the best pitcher in baseball when they are by no means out of the race. And, their biggest obvious problem is the bullpen, which in theory should be the easiest thing to fix in-season. They are in the same exact position as last year. That should end well. LOL. What, no italics? 🤣🤣🤣

And I might’ve been right about the bullpen, but I was SO, SO wrong about C Vaz. God, I love being wrong sometimes.

Tough start, brilliant ending...and we win. Two of my favorite players - CVaz and Workman- shine. Gotta love it!

Like how Vazuez was a terrible signing and the worst of the 3 catchers.

Sox train keeps rolling. Still facing mostly inferior teams, but you can only play the teams on your schedule. Just win. I'm excited for the 14 straight against NY and TB. That's going to be a really fun 2 weeks.

OPPO LIKE TACO What an unbelievable year Vazquez is having I'm glad I was wrong about him. Swihart was my guy, but Vazquez coming up I thought had a chance to be a guy with an empty average and be great defensively. I'm excited he's developing with both the glove and the bat.

Bottom of the 7th, down 5-1. Red Sox say no problem, just like it's 2018 again.
This is a big win. I'm starting to see that swagger.
