I think this is great news. A top Yankee target gets sent elsewhere. One with AL East experience. Be curious to see what the MFY do from here.

Amazing. The Mets are a clownshow of an organization currently...the Knicks of the MLB. Appropriate, given they share colors. No idea what the Mets are thinking. Curious about what they gave up.

I have a feeling as though this is a delayed 3-way deal. Perhaps they think they can really hold the Yankees feet to the fire for Stroman and get a better collection of talent than what they gave up to get him. Just a guess. I could see the Mets just keeping him and being a useless organization.

This has to mean Syndergaard is gone. Unless the Mets are tooling up for next year. Is there anyway they now turn around and trade both Stroman and Thor to the Yankees for Andejuar, Deivi Garcia , Clint Frazier and two more top prospects.

As a team building exercise I don't know what the Mets are doing, but that is a pretty good value for Stroman.

Kinda surprised that's all the Jays got, like how didn't the Yankees beat that?

Woods-Richardson seems very polarizing and it's possible Toronto is particularly high on him. If the Yankees weren't going to include Garcia it would've been hard to beat this.

I still think NYY comes away with either Syndergaard or Bumgarner. I was surprised to see the Mets come away with Stroman, but it occurs to me he's their replacement for Syndergaard and to a lesser extent Wheeler (I would anticipate they fill that spot with whoever they get for Syndergaard).
They anticipate contending next year and if they fall apart again they have the Stroman trade chip, so I do see the logic for the Mets.
I do wonder if they "overreact" to Diaz's struggles if the reports are true. I would think a team expecting to contend long-term could use a fireballing closer who has 3 years left and is only 24 and has a reasonable FIP, K/BB ratio which would make you think a turnaround is a reasonable expectation. Guess we'll see what the Mets wind up with there.

He looks to be a good young arm, but valuing him at that level is kinda crazy. Even if you had him as a top 75 prospect, which places like MLB.com don't have him close to that. The Yankees could easily beat that offer. They have tons of high upside risky arms. I keep waiting for a smart GM to make a deal that turns out to be an all-time bad trade with them, yet they just keep hoarding the prospects. Even the non top guys. It's shocking to see frankly given they've been an arm or two away for years now and they keep trying to just get value guys. The package just seems rather low given he has another year of control, like I would have expected that if he was a rental. An elite pitcher with one and a third seasons of control just got traded for two risky pitchers, neither a top 100 prospect.

He's the perfect example of what I'm talking about. A little bit more and they could have got a true #1 starter with a lot less question marks. The guy had pitched over 136 innings once in his career, had extreme splits in 2018, lots of HRs and was moving to the AL East.
