Rich Hill’s 89 is looking like 95

When Hill is on, it is really fun to watch. It is so old school. Work fast, throw strikes, mix speeds. Rarely break 90. I love it.

Game so in control I just went and made crab cakes. Dinner - baked crab cakes, roasted home grown potatoes, grilled patty pan squash.

I am the first one to complain about Hill. So I have to admit one of his best games in a while. I love how he controlled the game by pitching quicker.

Where was that kind of game all season? Bats relaxed again after the first inning, but Hill made it ok.
I am sufficiently familiar with Familia. He can go now

Give me a break. They have almost nothing to gain by losing. Better draft pick maybe If only the Red Sox knew how to draft(sigh)....

That game was the most in control start to finish I can remember this team being in forever.

perhaps the best game of the year! GET THE BALL AND THROW THE BALL-2.24 game time. Hill had Tampa hitters off balance, and I could not have time to read a chapter of WAR AND PEACE between pitches. Why do you guys on this web site never seem bothered by pace of game? When the big deal in tv games is to mike up out fielders to tell us their favorite salad dressing between pitches something needs to be changed!!

Kiké coming back went 1/10 and then sat a day.
Since then he's played every game and hit .321 / .367 / .571 in 30 PA. This is the guy we saw in the second half last year.

If only the Red Sox knew how to draft(sigh).... Is this sarcasm, or do you genuinely have issues with the past few couple drafts from this regime

Iâd love to have Kiké back. But Platoon CF and utility. And ride him when he is en feugo

Makes me wonder what the Sox record would be if the team had been even relatively healthy this year.

I don’t know how you could have a different opinion on those drafts currently. But have they drafted well over the last decade, in general? What do you think?

Makes me wonder what the Sox record would be if the team had been even relatively healthy this year. Exactly. Having 4 of 5 SP injured at the same time plus Paxton and others PLUS RP’s is, in itself, a well established formula for losing. Which is what happened. Some good work by rookie replacements (Kutter, Winck, Bello in particular) at least give hope for the future. To near MLB record levels of blown leads and blown saves, add the lethal combination of both serious and nagging injuries to most of the hitters, add the baseball version of PTSD from almost daily gut punches. I am encouraged that this team is still on its feet. Still trying. I keep hearing there are no leaders, no fight. LOLOL. These guys have pushed their injured bodies and damaged egos out there every day fully aware of the low odds of this hybrid AAA team beating some of the best teams in baseball. Bravo Red Sox. I began saying ‘wait til next year’ in late 1946; and have been very happy to have a period of stunning success over the past couple of decades. I am becoming bullish on 2023. It already looks like a strong, deep team. With relative health and a few reinforcements it could be a happy season for most of us.

It sure beats grumbling about drafting on a gameday thread because the team has won both games and oh, well, need something to be negative about.

This might be heresy, but I hate the Rays more than I hate the Yankees. I am insulted by the prospect of finishing behind this team. They are not impressive, and it is infuriating.
