Hill then Kluber is a great weekend of old guys who just know how to pitch. I think watching these types work is one of my favorite things in baseball.

Aroldis Chapman went on the IL because he got a tattoo in the middle of the season and it got infected? Well that brings a smile to my face!

Damn look at Franchy with a perfectly acceptable for a backup OF .229/.309/.419 line

Franchy has a 101 wRC+ and mixed but not terrible defensive metrics in the OF. He just cannot play first.

The Franchy mini hot streak is my nightmare. It leads people to think a corner is turned… which could have ugly results next season.

There's Whitlock and Schriber...and then a pile of dreck. Here's hoping Barnes' recent turnaround is legit.

Is it even possible to have a bad signing for a $1 million AAV? He has a +0.5 WPA in his Red Sox career. However mediocre he's been, he's at least good enough to be the last guy in the bullpen, and for that role his salary is a bargain.

We traded a good hitting catcher away and got a better one back.

The thing I'd complain about is using him in back-to-back days, which Cora has done numerous times and really should never do. Not that that was the issue today...

Mazz is useless. He’s the guy talking to some other guy behind you that you can’t tell to shut up cause that’s rude, but you can’t block out try as you might.

Mazz is useless. He’s the guy talking to some other guy behind you that you can’t tell to shut up cause that’s rude, but you can’t block out try as you might. Mazz is the broadcasting personification of the Red Sox season, only in his case, one feels hope only when he isn't speaking - that is, a lot less than what the Sox provided in June and for small stretches recently. He has a voice with all the warmth and likeability of fingers on a chalkboard and the insight of an NPC plucked off the streets who only knows about sports from what he sees on Sports Center. He is exactly the offspring I would imagine if Harold Reynolds and Dan Shaughnessy had a love child, except without a hint of physical ability and with even more irrelevance spewing from his mouth. I am waiting for Eck to slap the spit out of Mazz's mouth after seven innings of his inane comments. Sadly, Eck is far too classy for that.

Close game in Greenville (rough ABs for the kids except for McDonough). 2-1 here, good guys down by one.
Peeked at the Sox box to note my three least fave pen arms are in this mess
And yes, Mazz is gross, and Caron is useless.
