That’s the team as a whole- they do what they do regardless of the talent level of the opposition. They’ve lit up a bunch of good pitchers and lost to some bad ones. They’ve swept elite teams and been swept by some of the worst teams in the league. It’s just who they are!

The table he posted shows the Marlins with a 1.37% and the Red Sox with a 31.80% no?

This is one to remember come stats time. O sucks, puts them in hole. Pen is taxed, and cough up huge lead. Then O scores enough that in the end looks like a game the pen blew (7 runs! You should win that game) — but it was too little, too late. But it’ll make for some good offensive stats later! yup... Offense is still a large reason why we have fallen off a cliff the past month (and not the pitching) coming into today Since 7/25- 8/17 BA: 19th in mlb (10th in Al) Slugging (20th) (11th in AL) OBP: 25th (13th in AL) RBI 26th (13th AL) HR:20th (10th in AL) Hits 23rd (12th) According to B-ref Verdugo: Last 28 days: .215 BA, 2HR, 7RBI (.264 OBP, .339 SLG, 16SO) Yoshida: Last 28 days: .218 BA 1HR 6RBI (.253 OBP, .308 SLG, 11SO)m Devers: Last 28 days: .280 BA 3HR, 6RBI, (379 OBP, .453 SLG, 11 SO)

They are where they are because they've had chronic issues with pitching and defense. So I'm not sure why you don't calculate that in the arithmetic. It's not like they're losing 2-1 or 3-2 games. They're still giving up a lot of runs and not converting outs that other teams normally convert. Seriously dude, how many stretches has this team had where pitching and defense carried them when the bats didn't perform? Pretty much, never. When they hit enough they can stay on the plus side of .500 but they can't get a lot higher because the pitching and defense will always sink them. When they don't hit, they are clearly on the negative side of .500 because their pitching and defense can't make up for any offensive deficiencies. They're about 5 games over .500. If their offense had more stretches like this they'd easily be on the bad side of .500. The fact that they're still over means the offense has been good more often than it's been bad. If only we can say that about the pitching and defense. I mean last time I checked, it's still ok for teams to win 2-1, 3-2 or 3-1 or even 1-0, but you have to pitch well to do that and not gift runs for the other team on defense. Other than a 2-0 win against KC, I really can't think of any time when they scored 3 runs and actually won.
