with Pivetta it's like....your near the top of the mountain, but you can never reach it. “You can see the summit, but you can’t reach it… Last piece of the puzzle, but you just can’t make it fit”

Someone tell me if Verdugo has ever had a stretch this good this long. Last June was pretty darn good but I’d say this is his first banger month with an iso near .200

I’m not being a d—k about this: what do people see in Yoshida that suggests imminent breakout? He looks lost to me. Late on fastballs, flailing on slow stuff.

Casas kills me with the lack of solid contact on middle middle.

Casas may be struggling, but he certainly does appear to have lost his nerve. I like this kid.

Seems like Casas is at least back to "walks a lot" Casas, which makes it a lot more palatable to try and be patient through the other stuff

I'd disagree that he's flailing on breaking balls - he's still not whiffing a whole lot. Even with the 2 Ks tonight he has 8 BB and 7 K on the year. He's clearly not making a lot of solid contact, but if you want a silver lining, he did hit a few balls well that last game in the Twins series and nearly went the other way for a double in this last at bat. Going the other way more is what he's gotta do to break out and he seems to be starting.

Looked awful today no doubt, but yesterday he was hitting line drives to the opposite field and elevating the ball. Good signs as during his slump he’s almost entirely been pulling grounders. More generally very few players have his level of contact ability and plate discipline and totally fail as hitters.

Duran please stay this good forever Or at the very least until some combination of Duvall gets back to healthy or Yoshida/Casas figure it out

The tough thing with me on Casas is that although he's got a great eye and waits for his pitch, he's not squaring up on his pitch when he gets it. It seems to me that he just needs to speed up that swing decision slightly.
His xBA through last night is .172 so his actual batting average of .173 isn't bad luck. Last year's xBA was .193.
