This offense is so insanely streaky I can’t understand how they can go from double digit runs to 3 and fewer and nothing in between

They have one good hitter, maybe stop throwing that guy strikes in the middle of the zone?

Turner's lead boots paying off, tricking the 3B into thinking he could get the out and letting Duran take third

I dunno, so much of it is situational. I was driven absolutely insane by how much he played Eduardo Nunez in 2018 but when you win 108 games and a World Series everyone is going to remember that as "doing everything right."
And I think about half of the agita now has to do with his playing KikÃÂé at SS so much, and people seem to be overlooking the fact that he's had precious little choice in the matter, given the ridiculous spate of injuries.
I think his handling of the bullpen has mostly been good, maybe better than in years past.
He has had plenty of choice - how many games did he start Kiké at SS with a healthy Arroyo, Reyes, or Chang either at 2B or on the bench? I'd guess more than half of them.
Hard disagree about the bullpen management too. He's once again picking a favorite reliever and riding them into the ground. This year he's also frequently punting on games early, which drives me crazy. To say nothing of his questionable hook for starters, which usually is at least a few batters slow. And not just for performance reasons - Sale threw like 110 pitches in back to back starts before he predictably went on the IL...
Edit: Oh, and the interview he gave saying he just didn't view Reyes (0.2 fWAR, 90 wRC+, 0 OAA at SS in 105.1 innings) as an everyday player, while simultaneously riding everyday SS Kiké Hernandez (-0.8 fWAR, 70 wRC+, -10 OAA at SS in 436 innings) with a 1st percentile xwOBA and 1st percentile OAA. But they're buddies and Reyes is the weird new guy, so it's cool.
I agree about using Winckowski too much. But this pair of complaints - riding the top relievers too much and being too slow with the hooks for the starters - kind of typifies the dilemma the manager faces: the pitcher who gives up the run always does worse than the hypothetical imagined pitcher that wasn't used in the situation. But of course the slow hook for starters means either overusing the good relievers or bringing in the Brasiers and Orts more often, and I have a feeling he wouldn't escape criticism if he did that either.
As for Kiké at SS... As near as I could tell Chang had just about won the job there and then immediately got injured, and then Reyes had just about won the job and immediately got injured, and I'm not convinced Arroyo is that much better of an option.
I don't think he's beyond criticism for these things; I think he's been only fair. I just don't think this season has been the broad failing for him some of you are saying it has.

As we are floundering with the white sox, the punchless yankees just mounted a comeback against the rangers in the 8th inning and are poised to win that series...frustrating stuff.

This might be the worst strike zone ever. I would be hacking at everything. Who the hell knows what a strike is.

Was def rooting against Benintendi after the trade, but now that he reached free agency and signed a contract nobody wanted the Red Sox to have I am back to hoping he has success Well he got traded to the Yankees shortly after. So I think everyone was rooting against him at that point.

FWIW I think Cora has very consistently underused the lesser relievers on the team. There's times where he acts against his short term interests - if it's Pivetta third time through vs a 4.50 ERA reliever then Cora is going with Pivetta every time. And then there I think he gets into long term workload management issues by not being willing to grit his teeth and let a long man pitch one more inning, or choosing to go to his best relievers too much (Schreiber last year when they were just playing out the string was especially annoying).
Fixing what I see as a mistake here would probably lead to even more criticism for him, though.

This offense is so unreliable, go figure our starting pitching would be the most consistent part of the team

Bernardino has been a find. I wouldn’t want him in high leverage but for his job he’s been great- gets lefties out, throws strikes. Will keep the game competitive if you’re down.

He gave up 8 runs in 6 innings in AAA, but with a 11-1 strikeout to walk ratio, and the Mariners thought they could sneak him through waivers because of the ugly ERA. Nice try!

Pro Tip: Losing multiple series to sub-.500 teams is not the way to get into the Wild Card hunt.

Bello, Paxton, Crawford against CWS after a disappointing split. Gotta get at least 2/3 here. I want 3. Seems like the Red Sox have the advantage in game 2. But in game three, TBD always pitches well against the Red Sox. I swear this is so true, and has been for years.

Well that was lifeless. Glad I missed most of this one.
Now they face good contenders, until they face Oakland before the all-star break. This stretch will determine their fate.
