I got through this entire Breslow press conference and I believe he managed to convey zero information. I guess it seems like Rafaela is legitimately on the roster bubble.

Same, didn't exactly expect to learn any new info from the conference. Doesn't really sound like they know what to do with Rafaela at this point, not entirely sure what ST results will do in that regard either.

Doesn't really sound like they know what to do with Rafaela at this point, not entirely sure what ST results will do in that regard either. The thing with Rafaela, though, is that he basically has one big-ish problem that he needs to fix to be a really good major leaguer. He's been working on that for at least a couple seasons, so it's like he's going to show up at ST cured of chase-itis. But if he's made at least some progress on that score, it seems like the kind of thing that the coaching staff would be able to see over the course of 40 or 50 PAs. Not that they're going to put too much stock in such a short sample, but if he's truly on the bubble and you know that the defense and hit tool are there, it seems like his ST performance could actually inform the roster decision.

Sounds like Duran is a goner.
Lets make a deal.

I thought I read he was going to go about training differently and not bulk up as much. There are reasons he may be getting hurt more because of a lack of flexibility. He is one player I'm excited we got, but he looks as big as ever. This is a huge year for him with him being a free agent next winter. Looks like he is going with the same workout routines. If we are to have much success, this guy needs to have a big year! This was always the knock on Giancarlo Stanton, as well. While it’s nice to look like a Mr. Universe contestant, those traits don’t necessarily translate to baseball. I see guys like that all the time at the gym who could bench 500lbs but couldn’t move. There’s a fine line. So, while I don’t expect to see modern outfielders built like Willie Mays or Roberto Clemente any longer, there’s a definite benefit to not bulking up so much. I hope O’Neill can stike the proper balance this year.

Honestly, that might be a little smaller than he's been... Great, Sox already failing to get the 'best shape of his career" storyline right.

Incredibly likeable (and quotable) dude who’s rebuilt his body over the winter, trying to win a rotation job in spring training? Netflix knows what’s up

Always a good sign after 4 months off…. A later post said the downtime likely to be about a week, that he had already begun his throwing program at home. Not many successful players take "4 months off," I wouldn't think.

Could the Jansen news just be an excuse to hold him out so he doesn't really get injured while they're working out a deal or is he really hurt?
I also heard Cora was asked if he was excited to be there and said he didn't want to talk about it? Is this accurate?

Always a good sign after 4 months off…. Not downplaying the concern here, but after so much time off one can easily hurt themselves trying to ramp back up. Said injuries can be bad, or literally practically nothing.

Orioles rotation is already a bit thin even after dealing for Burnes, if Means and/or Bradish miss a chunk of the season that could be a big blow to them.

Orioles are probably in on Ryu or Clevinger now most likely.

He has a stomach issue now (the poops),

www.mlb.com/redsox/news/brayan-bello-pedro-martinez-pitching-adviceAn Ian Brown article on MLB.com talking about how Pedro helped Bello over the offseason. Apparently the focus was on Bello’s slider. “ The 24-year-old Bello, perhaps the most talented member of Boston’s young starting rotation, felt instant improvement after Martinez’s tutelage.”RDLR was Pedro’s last binky if memory serves. Not a ton of long term success there, but let’s hope for a “wicked slidah” from Brayan Bello this year.

The vertical movement on his slider more than doubled last year so I wonder if that will flatten back out again
