Jacoby "groundball to second" Ellsbury is the worst.

I like watching Iglesias play. Stat heads can always find a stat to back up their views or a reason why the other guys stats are no good. Small sample size has to be the most overused phrase on here. I want to see Iglesias play. If the sox don't want to play him I hope they trade him so I can watch him everyday.

Who did Tito get to pitch Bert Blyleven out there?

Did Salty have his streak for the year? Last year he had a stretch where he reach the 260 mark, but then went backwards. Is he in the process of doing the same? Seemed like he was shorting his swing but now is swinging from the heels again and of course missing, whiffing at stuff thrown in the first and losing his rhythm. Frustrating guy to watch. He teases you with the bat, as when he makes contact, it is hit, but then whoops.
Lavarnway did look better with the stick this time up. Of course, just a few at bats. He seems to be trying to go the other way and also shorten his swing. The home runs are not there yet though. Noticed that his k and walks are about the same so far at AAA.

Jacoby "groundball to second" Ellsbury is the worst. JBJ has his average up to .343 and obp up to .443 in Pawtucket. Dreamboat Era in CF ending with a whimper.

Come on Fenway, it is silly to rightfully bring up the fact he has a .556 BABIP in his 24 PA MLB line and then just dismisively state that he has not hit at all in AAA while not mentioning anything about his .211 BABIP, .120 ISO or solid K and BB rates in a much larger sample in Pawtucket. I don't think a .120 ISO in a month of AAA play really changes much of anything. There are some signs of improvement but it's not nearly enough to change my mind about him.

Ellsbury really needs to move down in the order, far far down.

Jose Iglesias is not used to playing near the foul line. He makes a nice backhand stop on a hard grounder and is about to throw to first when the ump calls it foul.

At the start of today's game Drew was a career 263. hitter in the majors. Iglesias was a 228. career hitter in the majors. I'd like to see a poll of major league pitchers. Would you want a good defensive SS that hit 263. or a great defensive SS that hit 228.? Heck ,I'd lower it to a 200. career average and ask the question.

There is no one I want less coming up in this situation than Ellsbury.

Good at bat Iglesias. I expected them to mess with him with a lot.

I asked which player a pitcher would choose. Great win for the Sox today.

What an at bat by Iglesias..starting to get the feeling he's a guy that play best on biggest stage.. sending him down to the minors clearly just took wind out of sails.

That's a feel good win.
Big difference this year and last year. I don't think the red sox had 1 win like that last year.

I do want Iggy to hit enough to take over the SS position but the question should be do you want a good SS with 750-800OPS or a great SS with 600-650OPS

Clay B. scratched from tomorrow's start. Shoulder, per Farrell's postgame.
