Ok, where are the Ellsbury haters. Real quiet, huh. But hey, you can't blame them. Let's see if he can " build on this". Egad, I hate that phrase. ( Finally stayed back on the pitch, good balance, and went the other way on that one.)

That was fantastic. (DVR reaction - wasn't watching live). Great win. Hope this gives Ells some confidence.

I do want Iggy to hit enough to take over the SS position but the question should be do you want a good SS with 750-800OPS or a great SS with 600-650OPS That is a better question, and I'd love to have a poll of the pitchers on it. Pitchers would probably choose the defensive guy, to their own detriment.

Clay B. scratched from tomorrow's start. Shoulder, per Farrell's postgame. And so it starts.

But everybody loved his 9th inning AB today - certainly including me, and I was extremely fortunate to be at Fenway Park today to witness this game. What an exciting, exhilarating comeback victory. I felt a buzz in that 9th inning that's been absent for awhile. It was great to feel it.

I want him to succeed, as I think most fans do.

All you nitwits look ridiculous for your earlier Ellsbury posts.
That's exactly why I never criticize.

Nearly a third of the way thru the season he has one homerun and is near last among major league lead-off hitters in OBP. He needs to pick it up....which there is still time to do.

Others have pointed it out. The team's returned to a more patient approach at the plate. That was probably the primary reason for the win yesterday.
Nice to hear Ortiz' praise for Iglesias and it was well-earned. That was a very tough at bat that helped key the result. I'll admit to wondering, when he came up to bat, whether he could wait it out and get something he could handle. Instead he showed great patience, the ability to foul off tough pitches and the discipline to squeeze out a walk. That's about as good a take on the value of patience as a player could earn.

Absolute turnaround from last year. Part of it is different players but even Salty with all his S/O is in the .330 range when historically, he is below .300. The Sox current OBP is .343, second best in the majors. (MLB stats)

Too bad Salty can't throw down to second. As a straight platoon catcher vs. RHP he's rather valuable at C. He may make a nice pile of cash in the off-season if he stays offensively on his present course.

That's exactly why I never criticize. Ah yes. I do remember you waxing poetically about the knuckleball every time one is mentioned.
