Meanwhile, we're going up against a lefty with a sub-4.00 xFIP for the 2nd game - we all know how well that's been going this year - likely with Ciriaco playing 3rd and no Ellsbury, and a catcher who has a .171 Ave/.237 OBP vs. lefties thus far this year. Should be an easy win.

I would like to see Carp platooned, at least, with Napoli, who has been rather quiet recently, even though his average is holding up. Carp might be the 1B for next year, and he should be getting more ABs and more time at 1B.
Nava should have the LF position fulltime now with Victorino in RF. Gomes should be like Ciriaco - used only in emergencies.
Iglesias has a walk and two hits in five ABs. I don't see how he doesn't keep playing until he stops hitting. Middlebrooks might have a longer stay at Pawtucket than anyone expected.

He's also 15-34 with 5BB 4XBH and 1HR in his last 10 games, which may serve as better justification if you are implying that they should ride the hot hand.

Lineup: Victorino CF, Gomes LF, Pedroia 2B, Ortiz DH, Napoli 1B, Nava RF, Ross C, Drew SS, Iglesias 3B
OK, so with Drew and Iglesias both playing again on the second game of a double header, looks like Ciriaco is a sure goner when Middlebrooks returns, barring an injury to any of the left side of the infield.

Been enjoying Iglesias plate discipline also lately. 5 walks and only 5 Ks in his last 10 games.

That's why the phrase "thus far this year" was included. Though it should be noted, said catcher is old, especially for the statistical assessment of catchers performance historically; his skills are in clearly in decline and he suffered a concussion or concussion symptoms recently - none of which necessarily negates a rise to career norms, or at least norms established during his last three full seasons of play (i.e. 2010-2012), but in the aggregate and sure as the gray hair on his chin, it all doesn't help matters, either.

Been enjoying Iglesias plate discipline also lately. 5 walks and only 5 Ks in his last 10 games. It's really been fun watching him. I thought his first ab was the most impressive even though it was an out. Saw 8 pitches and drove a pretty good pitcher's pitch to deep enough right center to move the base runner from second to third.

One atbat for Victorino, he scores and it looks like he's hurt, maybe out again.

Don't want to be that guy, but why is Drew hitting before Iggy (who is hot) against the lefty?

At this point how do you justify not having Iglesias in the lineup everyday? He continues to hit.

Iglesias is the best player on this team right now.

Gameday says a "neck injury."
I hate the sound of that.

Gameday says a "neck injury." I hate the sound of that. RT @ken_Rosenthal: #RedSox’s Buchholz left with neck tightness. Nieves indicated that he was fine.

According to Ian Browne, it's "neck tightness" and doesn't sound major.

Great to get this blowout as gettaway day looks rough tomorrow.
Iglesias to sit. No other way around it. WMB and Drew aren't going to surrender an inning here and there.
No matter what they've said I still think they'll send him back to aaa but that remains to seen? And I see no deals for Drew. He's here for the remainder of '13.
