And I think virtually everyone here has nothing but the utmost respect for Will Middlebrooks and wants the best for him. A true 1st class person and teammate. Absolutely, glad you mentioned that. He's matured and really became a strong and outgoing clubhouse presence this season. He was also chosen to be the Sox players rep for this year. I think we were all very excited to see him full time this season, and everyone wants to see him to succeed. Unfortunately, there's only so much time you can give someone to work out the flaws in their hitting approach, let alone when productive players have to take a seat and people get pissed. I'm sure Will feels the pressure and knows what's going on, but I hope he can at least make some modest improvements and land in a situation, whether it be with the Sox or elsewhere, where he can be a positive contributor.

Send Middlebrooks to AAA and let him work it out. We are benching a guy who is an incredible fielder plus has an OBP of almost .500. A strong case could be made that freaking Iglesias has been out MVP for the past month. I say play him until his lucky charms get soggy. Gambler's fallacy. Err... I meant to say, you wanna get together and play some poker?

Wouldn't surprise me if they don't even have Aceves report to Pawtucket, since he can be recalled to pitch in the doubleheader on Tuesday despite the 10-day rule. If he doesn't report (he's got a certain number of days after being optioned in which to do so), they don't need to clear a spot for him. Thus, they can add Bogaerts without a countermove, at least for a few days. They put Rosario on the DL, so they've got the spot open in any event.

There were a few comments above suggesting RDLR be brought up for a start. My gut and having kept track of his stats to date suggests to me that he is not ready for prime time. That plus coming off surgery, let the guy alone for a while.

I meant to say, you wanna get together and play some poker? They are human beings, not quarters! In the game of "what have you done for me lately" my guy is twice as likely to hit and he wins the fielding game hands down. The whole point though is to help Middlebrooks work things out. No doubt Middlebrooks should be the more valuable 3rd baseman if we can get him hitting again. It's been 184 AB though and we don't know what the impact is from the injury. He wasn't hitting before the injury. Even more reason to prove he can hit now.

Gambler's fallacy. Err... I meant to say, you wanna get together and play some poker? Gambler's fallacy would be if he expected Iglesias to under perform for the rest of the year, because he's overperformed so far.

I mean, the more precise term is inverse gambler's fallacy, but the logic is the same. Streaks are more often than not artifacts of small sample size.

Streaks are more often than not artifacts of small sample size. Do you really think sample size matters here? Cause Iglesias has done real well. He might regress to .400. /sarcasm Any recent update on Remy? We've got Eck back in the booth tonight, and I've grown to find him pretty entertaining. Rob Bradford was pretty impressive, and he developed some pretty good chemistry with Don. Meanwhile, Cafardo's broadcasting has the effect of a triple dose of benadryl.

And I think virtually everyone here has nothing but the utmost respect for Will Middlebrooks and wants the best for him. A true 1st class person and teammate. Are you getting paid by the post? There is an edit button.

Doubront with an unlucky second inning. Homerun to Valencia was legit, but then a bloop double and a very weak broken bat RBI single.

So do the O's plunk Ortiz next at bat? He is going to get himself thrown at very soon with the way he has been watching these home runs.

It's ok. I should pay more attention to everyone else's time. I tend to be verbose. I will try to be more terse.

Well David Ortiz is not Matt Joyce, and most pitchers are not as ornery as John Lackey, but I really do expect him to get drilled at some point.
