Old friend Jose Alvarez is pitching for the Tigers. For those who don't remember, Alvarez was traded to the Marlins in 2009 for Jeremy Hermida.

Going to the game tonight, hope Lackey continues to pitch like he has.

Don't have a good feeling about this series.

Any word/guesses on who is the TBD? Has to be Webster unless someone goes on the DL. Aceves would be on short rest and RDLR can't come back up yet.

I think it's going to be Webster. I'm excited to see the kid again.

Some people would post about that in a way that I'd have to Google it to find out the rest. It didn't work out with Hermida but that's a trade you make because if it does.....

Another interesting test. Too bad Buchholz can't go. Would love to split. Bullpen is in good shape going in. And, we're off Monday. Can try to keep it close if only down a run or so with Tazawa or Uehara. Tigers pen is putrid. If the lineup can work their starters, maybe we can take advantage of that pen late and steal a game or two.

Iggy crushes a legit triple. Really?? It was a line drive single to RF. Only reason it was a triple is that Hunter was so shallow and over towards the line. There is no other hitter on the Sox who doesn't get that ball cut off by the right fielder. Not hating on Iglesias. Just calling em like I see em.

I think it's going to be Webster. I'm excited to see the kid again. That should be an easy win against Scherzer.

This lineup is pretty formidable. Lackey is sailing along, albeit with an inning of bad luck.
I'm worried about the RS ability to put 3-4 on the board. It would be great to get a win right away given Buch' isn't going in this series.

This offense is nothing without Big Papi.
ADD: And Napoli is just lost up there right now.

Napoli, Gomes, and Middlebrooks can't hit against lefties. That's the problem.

Napoli, Gomes, and Middlebrooks can't hit against lefties. That's the problem. Seriously, how many times do I have to point out hitters will always hit better -- given a large enough sample -- when they have the platoon advantage? It's true for both Napoli and Gomes (particularly Gomes) over the course of their careers. Middlebrooks can't hit in general, so whatever. Also, that sucked.
