I wonder if he'll point out any adjustments. He's pretty quick with the credit if somebody helps him. I dont know if we'll ever see the Sale we wish we'd see consistently, but I have always respected his accountability and his effort level. I find him easy to root for. Between starts Cora mentioned that they thought he was too mechanical, too robotic. They wanted him to use his athleticism.

It's really funny that Bloom went from the genius of the world to the world's biggest idiot in the space of one season that happened to be one of the most "snake bit" seasons possible. And even now fans would rather see the Sox fail than admit they were wrong. You’re not lying, all you have to do is read Tom Caron’s replies when he tweets anything remotely positive about the Sox To quote a famous author's title... Much bruhaha about nada.

Excellent win. A lot of good things happened today. Chris Sale was a helluva lot better. I wonder what he has to say for himself. Did they find something mechanical that they adjusted? Connor Wong looks like he's winning regular playing time. Makes me wonder if that turns McGuire into a Greg Myers type role, back up catcher with a decent LH bat. I'm guessing that Cora and probably Tek like Wong better defensively. The Sox need RH power so maybe Wong can hit enough and provide some power. Arroyo is hitting finally. That's the one thing he can do. He doesn't walk, so he needs to hit. Dont know if he can handle SS better than Kiké, but there probably better off defensively with Arroyo at SS and Kiké at 2b. Duran and Yoshida continue to hit. Before the season I was all in on Yoshida but I was worried about how he looked early on with his feeble contact. Glad to know it was an unmentioned injury that was the cause of this. So I guess the chase for the batting title is on for Yoshida. Also glad that Cora switched Yoshida to 2nd and Devers to cleanup. Duran continues to be a different player both offensively and defensively. It's still early but I'm encouraged. Normally if Duran is hitting and or Yoshida is an on base machine you'd want either of them to lead off. But Verdugo has been to good to take out if the leadoff spot. Before the season began when it was obvious Cora didnt want to lead off with Yoshida, I mentioned Verdugo as the guy. Apparently Cora agreed. Verdugo has been impressive with his consistency, both on offense and on defense. The guy he has been this year or appears to becoming is worth an extension. Good stuff today. Hope they play like THAT against Toronto. lol, "I didn't suck."

I was also impressed with Logan Allen (a.k.a. the other) he's going to be a good one.
First Duran, now Wong and Arroyo. I hope when Kiké is 100%, they keep Arroyo at SS and put Kiké at 2B.
I'm surprised by Bernardino but I'm not sure what he did for the pitch violation. Impressive so far.
Now were down to 2 underperformers, the two I was most worried about about two weeks ago, Casas and Brasier.

with that thinking he might as well have stayed in the military with an officers pension, then the airlines and a pilots pension. MLB minimum will not be long if he does not look like a possible MLB pitcher. If he was destined to not make the MLB much, much more money from airlines (I am a Certified Financial Planner). Draft rounds 20-40 were done away with, and I was very glad as the vast majority were better off taking a scholarship full ride than a small sign on bonus, no scholarship, and very low probability of EVER being on the 40 man roster… If he does want to be a pilot, I think he could go into it in a couple of years if baseball isn't working out. If he doesn't try to see if he can pitch, he might spend the rest of his life wondering if he could have done it. Not in the Navy, he's taller than their maximum. That was the initial problem long ago. There's flight school and there's fixed wing flight school. Two completely different things. Now, after Vietnam, a lot of helicopter pilots went into the airlines industry but with a private pilots licence. Those that thought ahead, got their private licenses before they headed to Vietnam because then their helicopter flight hours counted as flight hours for seniority at the airlines. I know because I was at one point assigned to Army fixed wing flight school (but didn't go). A career as a pilot is not immediately attainable for Song although the height issue is particular to the armed services. (Canopy issue in case of ejection).

Tonight is an example of why the ghost runner is a huge advantage for the home team. They know how many runs they are playing for.
And yes, Jansen is human.

I disagree. A) I expect he has a ton of remedial stuff to work on and might as well do it in major league facilities, and B) TANSTAAPP. His chances of making it to the majors through years of performance and progression are slim under any circumstances. with that thinking he might as well have stayed in the military with an officers pension, then the airlines and a pilots pension. MLB minimum will not be long if he does not look like a possible MLB pitcher. If he was destined to not make the MLB much, much more money from airlines (I am a Certified Financial Planner). Draft rounds 20-40 were done away with, and I was very glad as the vast majority were better off taking a scholarship full ride than a small sign on bonus, no scholarship, and very low probability of EVER being on the 40 man roster… I don't believe he was trained as a pilot and it wasn't fixed wing school either (I'm not).

Jarren two-bags (3/4, 3 doubles today, 8 total already) needs to be batting 5th.
I have no clue why the Sox claimed Garza.
Tapia's days are numbered (a low number)

Important game today. Chance to take the fourth series in a row against a playoff contender and more importantly to take a series against a contending AL East rival. Also a chance to pass another AL East rival.

Valdez is like the worst infielder I've seen in years. We're not talking about lack of range, arm strengh here, the kid can't make the basic plays. The immediate pecking order is pretty bleak for middle infield defense. Fitzy is probably the best of the lot north (or south in this case) of Rafaela.

Ort didn't get a hold, ripped off.
KLuber was the important game story.

I'm pretty sure the Sox have no plans to take Sale out of the rotation anytime soon.
Thank God for sanity.

Some observations.
Sale oddly looks better against righties than lefties.
Duran has taken a huge step forward but still chases far too many high fastballs.
When McGuire's hand is OK, he needs to be the Montgomery style backup catcher, not the platoon catcher. Wong looks like he's cemented it.

The Brewers needed insane luck on balls in play in game 2 to avoid being swept. The Sox had a .435 to .304 edge in xwOBA but somehow the Crew had the wOBA edge .356 to .311. That's .052 karma versus - .124. What's the over / under for last date someone says they're not a playoff contender?
With this group ? The same day the Sox clinch a playoff spot.

Really awesome to see Duran continue to hit and put together good at bats. When he stole a base today I remember thinking…”oh that’s right, he’s got elite speed” If his bat is for real, and it sticks. It’s going to be nice having a guy in the lineup who actually steal a base. Who gets bounced when Duval comes back? Hm haven't really thought of who would have to go when Duvall is back. They have the same problem with both mondesi and Story as well. Bloom did a good job of building out the bench it seems. Being baseball and such a long season perhaps the issue will resolve itself by then. Tapia DFA and Dalbec trade are screaming me,me,me.

fyi: he is on record saying he prefers Masa to Yoshi. Yes, but can Yu shi be far away ?

Why has Yu been such a journeyman? Between his glove and what looks like some pop, I don’t get why he has bounced so much. He muscled up this past off season and substantially so. I had seen Cora say it but was blown away the first time I saw him entering spring training. He's also a plus defender at 2B, SS, 3B & 1B. So Casas is going to need to perform before Story or Montesi arrive.

I flatulate in this umpire's general direction. If you live in Mass, what time will it arrive in the Philippines. I fell asleep when Bleier was coming in. Did I miss anything ?

Nice quick inning from Bello. Blue has got to chill on him moving fast. He seemed to get his composure during the middle of the strikeout to Anderson in the 1st.
