Think about it, we as a whole on this team who do we complain about the most? Isn't it unreal the veterans on this team. Even Betts struggling but you don't question his heart. By the way I think he will bounce back next year. Have to start looking at who has value to deal. This is not a one trade fix. Ben was very aggressive last year. I think he wanted to make other moves and settled on what he got. If he has his job he has one more tradedeadline to redeem himself. If he can show something in the second half of the season . Keep building a foundation no more patchwork help. He whiffed with the stating rotation and after that it went downhill with the offense. Please no Hamels deal. He still has about 2/3 of a season before he officially needs to bounce back from anything... The only way they would even think about trading for Hamels is if they had a chance to make the playoffs. Why would they trade for him while playing .430 ball?

If only we could have confidence in them scoring six more without allowing another run...

Thank you Hanley and the previous OF/IF disaster for further ruining my fantasy teams ERA this week... And now a big thank you to Wright for the addition earned run LOL The only thing you can really do with this team is laugh.

By the way E-Rod is getting no help from the umpire either. He has to pitch perfect every friggin time. No infield fly rule? The ball wasn't close to being in the infield.

Great idea. Combined, Craig and Nava could probably hit less than Napoli. And Ramirez can replace Ortiz jogging out DP ground balls. Napoli is a FA at the end of the year and the Sox have shown no interest in extending him. Ramirez has been worth significant negative value at LF while Ortiz has struggled mightily at the plate. You don't think Bradley could put up similar numbers while greatly improving the defense? I'm not saying Craig or Nava are the long-term answer, but you might as well get something for the vets while you ride out a losing season. Assuming I am reading your scenario correctly (Ortiz gone, Hanley to DH, and Bradley to LF) then no, I doubt Bradley could match Ortiz' almost .900 OPS against RHP this season (another reason why Ortiz needs to be platooned with Hanley at DH for the rest of the season, his numbers against LHP are beyond horrible). Although the defensive upgrade would most likely be enormous, so it really may not matter in the long run.

Come on everyone, it's not over yet............................................
Seriously though, I don't think I have seen more of a bipolar team in my life. They look like the offensive team we thought they were for 2/3 of an inning putting good hard swings on the ball, and then go back to the usual performance for the rest of the game.

Well asked like that I couldn't tell you either considering each time the Sox have been up recently it feels like they are immediately back on the field lol But in all seriousness I was asking in general (home or away, either one) when the last time was that they actually went through the order completely like that in an inning. Would not be surprised if it was during the first week of the season. Ya sorry, it was the last inning they played at Fenway. Dropped 7 runs in the 8th inning against Oakland. Question to the ppl, if Wade Miley was the manager of the Jays does he have someone warming for Hutchison? Oh wow, and I watched that entire game as well. Guess all the bad kinda blocks out the good. Thanks!

Ortiz career is going to end the same way it too off, DFA'd. Well, that might be ttue if this team were relevant. He doesn't need to be DFA'd, he needs to be platooned. He is .278/.387/.492 on the season against righties. Against lefties this season it has been an entirely different story. The thing that sticks out the most though is he has struck out in 20% of his ABs against lefties, and has walked exactly zero times... Ortiz DHing against righties and Hanley DHing against lefties sounds better and better each day.

So you want there to be different standards to get into the playoffs as there actually would be in the playoffs? That doesn't exactly sounds fair to me and something that probably wouldn't be agreed upon. And why wouldn't MLB be happy for them trying to and (while extremely close, looking like the throws beat the runner) getting the calls correct? Yup that's what I want. And the goal is for umps to get it right the first time. Back to back overturns, not great. I'm sorry, but that makes no sense at all. And of course the goal is for the umps to get it right the first time, but getting plays that are that close correct is literally like flipping a coin.

Replay is so boring. I miss old baseball where they just went with what the umps called and sometimes they got together. They should only have replay in the playoffs. BTW Bogey was out. Also MLB is not gonna be happy with these umps for having overturned calls on back to back plays. So you want there to be different standards to get into the playoffs as there actually would be in the playoffs? You lost me at DFA Napoli. Bum I have been coming to these forums for a while, but just never made an account. For some reason this of all things made me do it though. So you are telling me that the guy who had an OPS of .878 in May is a bum? Please tell me what else you think, considering (without looking it up) that most likely lead the team, or was at least near the top. The fact is Napoli turned a corner the past month and ended up reaching about his career numbers during May. He had a .242/.361/.516 line, which is very Napoli-ish.
