Well no Brooks Brannon this year. Likely means the first 5-6 picks take up the slot money, although I feel like the Red Sox will have some money to potentially splash at the top of tomorrow if they can find a fish to take it. Let's hope they land a whopper.

Kinda disappointing summer league so far. Davison is a guy you'd hope takes a big leap, yet kinda of the same guy. Polish center hasn't done much, guy from Hungary who looked great on tape hasn't even played. Scrubb has been good at scoring, yet where are the rebounds, assists, etc. Former Jazz center had a good night, after a not good game. I thought that Davison looked slower than last year altho bulked up a bit. Scrubb and Walsh to me looked the best so far. Neither center impressed greatly. It's a ho hum team after 2 games.

Those shots/makes were a surprise as were the commentators' identifying him as a 3 or 2 and D guy based on historical stats and scouting reports. He was certainly a hustler, but I thought that his lateral quickness was less than I anticipated. He didn't drive effectively to the basket. Yeah I agree. Some reps are very strong with the lateral movement. Some look like he’d rather play in trail technique. I don’t trust the offense at all. Interesting comment on trail technique. I gather that is when he trails the player with the ball and tries to block/defend from behind. I saw some of that. Again last night he had some opportunities to drive to the basket or drive and pull up short range, but passed them up. He exerts a lot of energy for sure. Like most rookies, he will be a work in progress.

Jordan Walsh makes his first three 3’s in summer league. First two shots looked more on balance than third. Those shots/makes were a surprise as were the commentators' identifying him as a 3 or 2 and D guy based on historical stats and scouting reports. He was certainly a hustler, but I thought that his lateral quickness was less than I anticipated. He didn't drive effectively to the basket.

LMAO I can't wait for Ort to blow this game in the tenth. 😂 As sarcastic as I was. I hope this really doesn't happen, but Ort is available. The outlook for Ort is cloudy.

To me, he's Gary Sanchez with more hair and a personality. Sanchez was just released by the Mets after only 3 days with the club. Yeah. I had that in mind as well..not great catchers, strike out a lot, have power, cannons,.....but I think Alfaro is a better hitter..at least for average and his swashbuckler style gains him points.

Have to say that Aquaman is a binky. I don't know where he stands as a catcher, but there is a place for him in MLB. He can hit and has charisma. We'll rue the day and be wistful if he goes methinks. …but is he a good enough defender at ANY position to make an MLB roster no matter if his bat is good enough? Yup, that's the question...but I wonder if he could not serve as a part time catcher/dh. Is he really terrible at catcher? He has a certifiable gun for an arm.

Stephen Scott bomb Alfaro opt out is Thursday, Scott probably replaces him in Worcester then I'm kinda thinking Alfaro might take McGuire's job, btw. Reese has been horrendous this year (.212 xwOBA, bad defensive metrics). McGuire does have two more years of control though. I don’t, Alfaro can’t catch. Not saying they wouldn’t necessarily move on from McGuire at some point, I just don’t think they would do it for a guy who can’t catch at all (and also is a RHH like Wong) It is alarming how McGuire’s defense has fallen off a cliff Have to say that Aquaman is a binky. I don't know where he stands as a catcher, but there is a place for him in MLB. He can hit and has charisma. We'll rue the day and be wistful if he goes methinks.

So - now what? Mazzulla fell on his sword in the post game. Horford and Brown said it was on them. I also heard elsewhere Brown indicated he could say more but wouldn't. Did Tatum have anything to say? We thought the Bruins was a disaster - this is probably worse if it ends like it looks like it will. Pretty bad - Barkley saying they have the mental toughness of a flea. Eddie House saying the coach lost his team. Wow - such drama...and it is only the start. There was a time not too long ago when Boston was hailed as the City of Champions...Hard to see where we go from here with the Cs. I can't watch the next (last) game. How to get in touch with Obi Wan???

Remember when Conigliaro and Yaz were in the majors at 20 and 21? I love Bleis defensively...and expect above average offense too. I'd like to think that he would be ready in 2 years at age 24 max. Mookie, Bogaerts and Devers were all up young. Those are all stars. Yes there’s a few guys that make it up early. Mostly because of need. We’re able to bring Rafaela up in 2 years without rushing him and putting him in the best situation to succeed. That or i can see us dealing him for pitching. True enough. I can't see us trading Rafaela tho. He's started a bit slow with the bat but his MLB arrival will coincide with the Duvall departure...He is special in the field and exudes confidence without swagger. He will be popular in Beantown.

He's only 22. He's probably 2-3 years from being an MLB player. I think he's progressing extremely well. We have to remember to be patient with young 20 year old's. I think he should play this whole year in AA and next year AAA and then we will see what we got with him. We're not in need of an outfielder at this point anyway so we are lucky enough to no have to rush him. Remember when Conigliaro and Yaz were in the majors at 20 and 21? I love Bleis defensively...and expect above average offense too. I'd like to think that he would be ready in 2 years at age 24 max.

We all know that the refs were in concert with the league to give this game to the Cs. A 7 game series is what the league wants to maximize revenues. Am I right? So the Cs do not deserve credit as the outcome was preordained. At least this is what I have heard here. That is NOT what you heard. If you are going to drudge this up then at least pay attention. I have no complaints the past two games, although I have only watched the last 7 minutes of game 6 so who knows. We lost game five and I don't think the Zebras had anything to do with it. If you'd like to mock others maybe you shoud watch the documentaries or articles written about it first and not take my 'word'. Researching something is always a good thing. The long and short of it is that the league does not "RIG" any playoff game, however they will influence them. According to Donaghy, former NBA ref, before series starts the league sits down with the refs and instructs them to enforce certain rules which of course helps one team over the other, and it tends to extend series so the league makes millions more in profits. Sometimes even when this occurs teams play so well they overcome it anyway. I'm sorry but I don't think an NBA came up with this on his own, it's a brilliant way to cheat and next to impossible to get caught. Before you respond do your research and you can respond directly and keep it off the board. My friend, I don't have such a jaundiced or conspiratorial view of the league, refs or people in general. I have greater faith which you might decry as being naive. Thank goodness tho or otherwise I would be continually angry and mistrusting of so many things that I have no control over...Oooff.

Tatum really did play a crap game and those couple threes at the end don’t really salvage it. Like I said I finally got home to sit down and watch the game with under seven minutes left so take this with a grain of salt, but Tatum certainly did appear to salvage the game with the barage of late 3's. Maybe what your saying is akin to a closer in baseball can't get a save if he created the save situation himself?? We all know that the refs were in concert with the league to give this game to the Cs. A 7 game series is what the league wants to maximize revenues. Am I right? So the Cs do not deserve credit as the outcome was preordained. At least this is what I have heard here.

I shamely admit I was one calling for buying out a few of his years. I hit the brakes on that. lol. I was wrong I would sign him right this second if he’s willing But would he accept the smallish dollars you might offer...were it your money? He's a huge guy with great strike zone judgement. It's just hard for him to square up. We wrote Duran off and he is playing like we hoped Casas would.

I still 100% believe in Casas but the man needs to go back to AAA for a few weeks and regroup. Bring Alfaro up for a spell Not much anxious talk to sign Casas long term at this point...

Amazing what a difference effort makes. This was a game the Hawks had to win...backs against the wall..loose and let it fly. The Cs do not have the same desperation intensity. If the Cs somehow win tonite, it's a 4 game sweep.

Kenley is throwing his cutter almost 3 mph faster and his 4 seamer is averaging 96.2 after being 93ish his whole career- never reaching 94 for an average The fountain of youth is somewhere in the city of Boston Now let's get Sale, Kluber and Whitlock to quaff from that same Fountain. Kluber is going to have to paint like da Vinci...I suspect that will lead to repeatedly getting him out early with high pitch counts fostered by nibbling. With fatigue come more misses And, when he misfires on location...high exit velos...probably a high number of home runs given up. Kenley said that he worked hard in the off-season to increase his strength and flexibility while watching vids when he was going well. It looks like it paid off. I hope that he doesn't waste it with this version of the Sox. We are the ONLY MLB team without a quality start to date

Pitch clock and constriction of shifts are a huge boon to baseball enjoyment. If there prove to be glitches in the pitch clock process, they will be ironed out. The concepts are great.
It was amazing to me that fans were chanting "Yosi" in his first game. Pretty cool....
Love Casas' eye and plate discipline...

I definitely get caught up in the size thing, but then I think… Yaz was 5’11” 175. How big do you have to be to hit for power? Smaller players might not hit 500-foot home runs, but all you need is 1 foot more than the fence. In days of yore, Mickey Mantle was listed at 5'11" and 195. He hit 536 home runs.

Eovaldi was my choice. He was hitting 97 repeatedly in Spring Training. Heck of a spot for Kelly to make his debut. Personally, I preferred Eovaldi over Kluber (even though I've always LOVED Kluber). I wanted both, but if I had to pick, I was taking Eovaldi. Still, obviously very, very early. You might have loved Kluber when he was throwing 95-96...He is Eckersley "salad"...
