Somewhat unrelated but why is Chris Paddack pitching in a backfield game? He's coming back from Tommy John, so I imagine he's still working on that portion of his return. He pitched in the playoffs last year. More likely it's what Kelly said. Happens all the time. For example, if the MLB game is against a division rival sometimes they'll have a guy pitch out back instead so the hitters don't get a look at him.

Ian is in Fort Myers.
Might be a good day to watch the NESN broadcast just saying.

If you are interested in Keith Law's opinions and don't have an Athletic subscription, you can find the highlights here about a third of the way down: (Removed by the moderators.) Sorry, too much.

I doubt there has been. There has always been AAA churn.

This makes it LESS likely they sign Montgomery imo. Sell. Use this season to figure out who you're keeping around in the rotation. This just isn't a team worth adding Montgomery to at this point.
Trade Jansen and Martin. Figure out if you're extending Pivetta.

Wonder why Bleis keeps rising despite missing pretty much all of last season. Where has he risen? Nowhere that I put any stock in.

This is also part of why looking ahead to future free agent classes as justification for sitting one class out is unproductive. I don't think the team is doing this (i.e., they're not staying away from Montgomery to have the money for Wheeler), but I've seen that said by some, in general and specific to certain guys.
If you've got a boat, you don't open the mystery box because hey, it might be a boat.

Look, we still have no idea what happened here. The offense is obviously not good for him to get a year. We have no idea if he'll play again. Bad situation all around.
I'm not sure what's to be said that's productive beyond that.

To put this discussion to rest, there is a 0% chance that Anthony makes the team. See Jackie Bradley's debut in 2013 for why you don't change plans with a prospect based solely on spring training.

It comes up as a T-Mobile Tuesday deal, but I think it shows up a bit closer to the start of the season. It's still telling me to "come back next year" under the MLB.tv promotion that I was signed up for. Yeah it's legit a week or two before.

Can Hendriks be added to the 60 day IL immediately? He must first be placed on the 40-man roster (which is why the open roster spot is nice), but then can be removed and placed on the 60 day IL. Feb 14th was the first day for the 60 day IL. Technically they need to be giving the spot to someone else to put him on the 60-day, but consider the spot open because they can do it whenever at this point.

And mlb.tv is covered by T-Mobile with most of their mobile subscription packages. At least it was last year. I'm not sure it is covered by t mobile this year I saw something about a mgenta package or something. I'll keep an eye out closer to the he season though They're still advertising it I think? Last year they sent an email in March because it's a one-week promo very close to the season starting.

Wow, I had never heard of this before. I'm on T-mobile but that pays for itself with the MLB.tv discount alone.

If Pérez makes the roster it'll be at McGuire's expense, so that's still one roster spot.
I don't think there's necessarily anything imminent. Most of the smoke has been around a RHH bat. We'll see.

Good grief sox twitter is a toxic as Chernobyl My mentions are a dumpster fire. It really only gets like this when I get amplified by the bigger local guys but dear god Twitter is the worst. I can't imagine getting this every time I posted something on there. Don't care or anything, just an observation.

Composite ranking for BA, MLB, ESPN, Law, and BP. Not the five I'd pick but useful. Interesting that Mayer and Anthony wind up next to each other.
