Both runs came before a hit.
Looks like a quality first start.
Hopefully there will be help soon for Greenville scoring runs. This lineup is challenged.

I recently listened to a semi famous baseball authority wax on about the future of MLB in the testing era and how Speed and D would become the dominant skill set.
Looking to maximize these two factors, I came up with the following lineup projection for the Sox in 2015.
What says you?
1. RF - JBJ. 2. 3B - Cecchini 3. CF - Ells 4. 1B - Xan 5. DH - Lavarnway 6. LF - Brentz 7. C - Swihart 8. 2B - Marrero 9. SS - Inglesias

I'm watching the fox game of the week and I think it was a gusty move to hire WHAM to do play by play. The one with the scraggly beard and whiney voice seems to have held up but the other one has not aged well at all and seems a touch dementeted.

Hernandez is starting tonight in Pawtucket and was setup to shadow Lackey ( I don't think coincidentally )
Give him three starts then see if Webster is ready depending on how he does.
Make sense?

I agree and wish he would make it official by starting his pitches at 2nd base, do the Fred Fflinstone twinkle toes routine before every two strike pitch. That cracked me up. Is this what you mean? Exactly thanks for finding the link Hanrahan is to Fred As Petey is to Barney?

Hanrahan brings the heat....I think that is why he has control trouble. They guy is trying to throw it through the backstop on every pitch. But 3-1...love it. I agree and wish he would make it official by starting his pitches at 2nd base, do the Fred Fflinstone twinkle toes routine before every two strike pitch.

No pinching necessary.
I do think there is still a place for a soft throwing deceptive lefty starter on a staff.
Innings eater, great competitor....blah blah

also, I would love for someone to explain a/ single pitch Pettite made that Hernedez tis not capable of right now Because what you really want to see from a pitching prospect is the kind of stuff normally associated with a 42 year old man. Isn't this just warmed-over Moyer comping? No, just another chance to display variety I'd pitching styles can lead to very successful careers. Pettite did not break 90 yet has a history of success. I feel Hernadez fits a similar profile. We will see.

The Yankees still haven't moved Betances to the bullpen? I remember when I said in this board that both Banuelos and Betances were vastly overrated and people started trying to prove me wrong. I'd like to say that I was very much right and it feels glorious. Glorious ness deserved I say. Yankee prospects are always overhyped systemically for trade value. Webster/Workman. The killa Ws!

With the cold heavy air, I expect another small ball game.
Hopefully, WMB will crush another one but not to center!
BTW, did anyone see the reaction to his out to center?
I think he won a bench pool by reaching the warning track!

Thanks to all who maintain the daily link. I'm a long time lurker who really looks forward to the daily posts.
I'm also a little surprised by the choice of starters. I'm assuming it is not co ordinated and is a managers decision.

rubby just threw a pie in the face or Pittsburg appears pie eyed or
The pirates bats are made of rubby...no?
Remember that time with a 3 and 2 count you shook of the sign three times then threw a filthy change for strike three?
Rubby, that was awesome!

The point I was trying to make is not about predicting what exact measuring tool would be used to protect rubby but the validity of innings use at all.
In the Rany Jazayerli extremely well researched grantland article, he completely rebuked innings as a tool. He mocked the Verducci effect.
Already, speculation has begun that to best utilize limited Rubby availability he may even move to the bullpen, again to limit innings.
I'm not sure what the best way would be ultimately for all pitchers to be protected from bad management but the case made in grantland is the best I've seen to date.
Simply put, if a strict pitch count of say 100 per game pitches was maintained, couldn't Rubby stay as a starter for the entire season with his performance dictating his address?

Also, to temper just a squint,
++Fastball guys ought to be way ahead early; its the only pitch allowed pretty much.
