Also, WTF is this from Angel Hernandez? He's awful. I hate umps who alter their strike zones based on count/situation. Going by the theory that good umps should go unnoticed by fans, you know they're bad when fans actually have nicknames for them: Cowboy Joe West, Balkin' Bob Davidson, and Dear God Please Anyone But Angel Hernandez.

So Farrell won't pinch hit for Drew with a man on 3rd in a tight game but he brings in Uehara for a 4 out save. Curiouser and curiouser...

Also, WTF is this from Angel Hernandez? He's awful. I hate umps who alter their strike zones based on count/situation. They can fix this easier than instant replay with current technology. Could get rid of plate umps except for safe out calls and just have umps in the field subject to replay. You'd have faster games, too, as the strikezone would be uniform for pitchers and batters. Screw the "human factor." The real human factor is anyone with a TV or a phone can see how bad some of these umpires are. Time to evolve, MLB.

Also, WTF is this from Angel Hernandez? He's awful. I hate umps who alter their strike zones based on count/situation. I don’t even think that is the case, Lowe described it best as a "floating" strike zone which is a PC way of saying there is no sense of consistency. Seems like every pitcher and every hitter on both sides have had issues. Even as arrogant as Hernandez seems he must realize he has stunk tonight.

If I'm reading the BR game logs correctly, Uehara just completed a hidden perfect game. 27 up, 27 down starting on 8/21.

By the way, Derek Lowe has been a delightful announcer. Although, to be honest, I think most if not all of these guest announcers have been much better than Don, so maybe I'm just projecting.

Good to see so many good ab,s from WMB lately. Once Price got by him it was just a matter of playing catch against Drew. I think that's why Maddon stayed with him. He didn't think it would take so many pitches to get to Drew.

Raise your hand if you saw that Drew strikeout coming. *Raises hand* Makes no sense when you can start Drew against righties tomorrow and Thursday. He needs a day off here and there anyway.

Nah, he's actually just really good. I just wish NESN let Pedro stay on an inning or two longer. I love listening to him talk baseball.

I like the 4 out save attempt here. Three game set if you take game one you can use the next two to get everybody some work and at the worst give up 1 game to the Rays in the standings. What "should" happen is a lot of Bradley, Xander, Lavarnway the rest of the series. While Maddon is forced to leave his guys out for 120 plus.

yeah, I think Farell is in playoff hunt mode (in having Uehara do the 4-out save). has a closer ever been team MVP? Red Sox or other?

God, Koji Uehara is disgusting. Faced four batters and retires them all with 12 strikes and only 1 ball. Has retired the last 30 hitters in a row. Just filthy.

Tremendously efficient save by Uehara. I say it after nearly every win, but that man has been massively important for us this season.

You need a 4 out save?
I'll just do it in 15 pitches.

It's official. If we just go .500 the rest of the way (8-8), Tampa Bay has to win out in order to catch up.

I think Koji will get work like this, but once they clinch koji wont really pitch and he will rest.... Go for the win when you can
