But the Red Sox have to get past the boogeyman Rays first. I don't see how thats possible. They have David Price. Sox should just forfeit and save everyone's time. I had an opinion that Price would be the one pitcher other than Kershaw and Wainright I wouldn't want to see the Sox face with everything on the line, especially in a 5 game setup where he's pitching twice in five games. In Game 2, I was totally and thankfully wrong. Still want to see the Sox wrap things up before it could get to a Game 5 as I still wouldn't want to take the chance on Price having two stinkers in a row. It's an opinion. Right or wrong people have them. And if my opinion is wrong and the Sox win, then I'm totally glad to be wrong. Crow is delicious when the Sox win.

Seriously, **** cowbells. People who bring cowbells to a baseball game belong in a cage.

One part of me thinks it's more fun to face the best teams on the way to and in the WS. When you play the best teams, and beat them (big if) then it's that much more satisfying. I still count the 2003 ALCS as the best series of any type in any sport of my life-time. Bugger that we lost though. for the most part agree with all of this except I think the 2001 Patriots season as a whole was just insane if you think about the 100 million dollar QB going down and the fourth stringer leading us to a win over the unstoppable at the time Rams. If you wrote that story nobody would buy it because its too hard to believe. As you said though at the end of things it is much more satisfying to have beaten the best teams on the way to ultimate victory but you have to actually beat them.

Lol TBS: "Nava can play any of the outfield positions, so really they have three center fielders out there."

I've been watching the Sox since 1962, and I can't recall a stretch of more fundamentally sound, well-prepared baseball. From all appearances, their heads could not possibly be more in the game.

Lol TBS: "Nava can play any of the outfield positions, so really they have three center fielders out there." They also called him "a veteran left-handed hitter." Just terrible. Also: Alex Speier@alexspeier Victorino gets hit batting right-on-right. 2nd HBP of the series, 20th of the year, 12th right-on-right (vs. just 3 BBs rt-on-rt) Chances he goes back to switch-hitting next year are low at this point, right?

Cobb in the WC game also did a great job of willing line drives to be hit directly at his fielders. Not sure why they don't mention that skill.

Letting up doubles to stiffs like James Loney isn't a good sign.
edit: LOLOL.

Mike Napoli, gold glove first baseman.
I'm not even being facetious. At this point, I've seen enough good defense from him at first base to say that it's legit and is one of his selling points as a free agent.

He was shockingly good at defense all season. Yet another excellent signing by Cherington this offseason.

It's Farrell and his staff. They've been excellent with that stuff all year. But of course, like 90% of major league managers, he's not perfect in bullpen management, and he didn't immediately bench one of the top 10 shortstops in baseball in favor of a 20-year-old, so he should be fired post haste. Obviously.

Obviously. This really is true. Well, like everything, it's a mix of players and staff, but reading between the lines of a lot of different comments, it's clear that Farrell and staff give a lot of really good, well-prepared information to players who are hungry to put it into use. Solid stuff ... and an underrated reason why this team is so enjoyable. It's just good baseball, really pleasing to watch. And that Napoli-Drew DP is a perfect example of what I've been saying about the Sox playing at a higher tempo than the Rays. Which they'll need because there's some solid pitching going on in this game. edit: look at Molina stand and watch that blast!! what an abomination to the game!!! that fact that it ended foul by a couple of feet means nothing ... run!

Buchholz is still sitting 89-90 but his command of all his pitches looks sharp. His two-seamer and cutter have good enough movement that hitters can't square them up as long as he works the edges of the plate.

30 pitches to the first 10 batters, 31 to the last 5.

That squander could be a backbreaker.
Salty is as unreliable as it gets at the plate.

Perfect example of why Tampa Bay should lose their baseball team.

Pathetic. Had an out nixed by this dump stadium, and 3 of the 4 balls were actually strikes.
