Because they need to trade those guys before they ruin their value like they do the rest of their prospect. Like all the arms they had coming or all the stud catchers.

Yankees www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2014-new-york-yankees-top-10-prospects/1. Gary Sanchez, c 2. Slade Heathcott, of 3. Mason Williams, of 4. J.R. Murphy, c (Michael Pineda) 5. Eric Jagielo, 3b 6. Aaron Judge, of 7. Ian Clarkin, lhp 8. Greg Bird, 1b 9. Luis Severino, rhp 10. Gosuke Katoh, 2b (Manny Banuelos ... some other guys) www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/schadenfreudeWhy are the Yankees signing so many outfielders if 3 of their top 10 prospects are OF? Because said outfielders wouldn't even be crack the Red Sox top 10.

Ran through the BP top ten for NY this morning. It's a sad and sorry list, and it's going to take a ton of upside to make much of that collection. Heathcott is nominally their best tools guy but, like a $19 dollar hardware special, some of those tools are not made for heavy duty work. Lots and lots of questions, about his speed which hasn't resulted yet in a lot of stolen bases, and about the lack of power. Their top prospect, Sanchez, does have some clout but seems uninterested in the defensive side of the equation. He appears to be taking a step back. Honestly I'd take Vazquez over him in a heartbeat, and where did Vazquez place on the BA list for the Sox, 12? Either by design or neglect, they haven't cultivated much of a farm system at all.

While on a college tour in 2012 (with my now Freshman daughter in college), we were visiting SC (specifically the Citadel and U of Charleston). While there, we took in a few games (the Citadel and the Yankees low A team share the same field). I got to see Sanchez play and he was really impressive with the bat and his arm was explosive. Since then, I've got to talk to a minor league player who is a catcher in the minors (I know for a fact can throw off the mound at close to 100 mph), and was told that he had seen Sanchez and that Sanchez could throw from his knees as quickly as anyone else could from their feet. However, I have heard that he did not progressed defensively this year like others may have from the same level/age. But, his power is impressive. If he doesn't catch he should be able to hit as a DH.

Hernan Perez, 2b/ss First how crazy is it that Porcello is still under 25? How crazy was his arbitration award as well? Second, not sure why Smyly isn't at the top of the list. Third, that's not an impressive group.

Porcello's FIP, by season: 4.77, 4.31, 4.06, 3.91, 3.53. I know some pitchers always underperform their peripherals (the Javier Vazquez disease), but there's nothing specific in Porcello's profile that would explain why his results haven't been improving along with his strikeout, walk, and home run rates. The Tigers have gone from a terrible infield defense to a potentially excellent one, though - Iglesias/Kinsler in the middle is very strong, Cabrera gets off of third and will be an upgrade over Fielder at first. I've called him a breakout candidate for three years now, so who the heck knows. But given that every single piece of his underlying statistical profile keeps moving in the right direction, and now his infield looks like it can give him some support, I'm still buying.

He's young and healthy so it's worth buying I suppose. I just know I like when he's on the mound and the Red Sox are playing Detroit.
One way to spin it positively is he's basically spent his minor league years in the majors.

The Twins system is top heavy, but their top is as awesome as Kate Hudson's.
