I think you're underrating Bledsoe. He's a fantastic player if can stay healthy and will likely grow that much more. Last season, on his first year as a starter, he had a 19.6 PER, which is exactly the same Pierce had when he won a title.
He's also not coming through that door. The Suns have something good building.

Yeah, I just think Bledsoe is really, really good. He's already terrific offensively, having improved his shooting and passing considerably since he entered the league. He's also one of the ten or so best defensive guards in the NBA.
In general, I think anytime you can get an All-Star in his prime on a below-market contract, you do it. There's really zero downside. It's not like that $14-16m in cap space is going to be used more efficiently elsewhere, and I've already discussed why I think purposefully having lost seasons is a bad idea.
But yeah, probably not going to happen.

Yeah, and him and Smart together would likely fit well. Too bad the Suns are keeping all the awesome guards I wanted on the C's for themselves (Thomas is also another very, very good player).

Jackie MacMullen "reporting" that Rondo wants out. In quotes bc it is from off air footage from Around the Horn (talking during a commercial break).

Which means she ****ed up and accidentally leaked something she probably wasn't supposed to. Perhaps given to her off the record.
Bottom line is he's not a very tradable asset. One year left, not a lot of teams need PGs since there are so many good ones right now and those who do either don't have much to offer or Rondo probably won't sign with. Need a team to want to take a chance and give something half decent.
I don't think Rondo sniffs the contract he wants, but that doesn't matter right now.

Some in the industry are saying its ESPN who messed up. There is an assumption that it was said at a time when it should be considered off the record.

She's the one who opened her mouth on set in front of cameras.
Besides that... Crazy question. If you were the Cavs, would you rather Irving running the point with Waiters, Lebron and Love at the 2-3-4 or Rondo? Who gives you the best chance to win? Rondo would resign there in a heartbeat. He's young enough and both players have enough injury concerns to cancel out.
I don't know, crazy but makes some sense.

So the Rondo rumors will be on hold as he's broken is hand and is out 6-8 weeks.
