Not sure if I'm nervous but i'm excited to get this next piece of information. Our offseason is SO up in the air and tonight we'll have a little bit of insight into what direction they are headed (or at least, enough to feed our own opinions on what they should do).

Count me firmly in the Nik Staukas camp. If they end up with a non top 4 pick I'd go with him.

I'm starting to become enamored with Vonleh (based on what I'm reading, especially since the combine). He's not as tall as what I thought but his length is what matters (don't you do it). Best chance at drafting a rim protector after Embiid. I'm starting to think this would be my draft board:
Wiggins Embiid (assuming injury is not an issue anymore) Exum/Parker (can't decide which way to go here) Parker/Exum Vonleh Randle/Smart (again, I waiver) Smart/Randle

Count me firmly in the Nik Staukas camp. If they end up with a non top 4 pick I'd go with him. Stauskas is more a candidate for their second first-round pick (17th overall), and 5th or 6th is way too high for him. He might not make it to 17, though-- DX has him going 14th to the Suns. Fortunately, I actually like a lot of the names in that part of the draft-- think Hood, LaVine, Harris, Hairston, K. Anderson-- and think they can come away with a role player (read: a shooter) with upside there.

Celtics get the 6th pick
Another ping pong ball bites the dust. Very disappointing.

The stinking Cavaliers.
Remind me to never take the Draft lottery serious.

Cavaliers at all of 1.7% chance of winning, hit the f***ing lottery for the 3rd time in 4 years. LeBron karma?

Yeah, seriously, **** the Cavs. Terrible management keeps getting bailed out by the ping-pong balls.

The stinking Cavaliers. Remind me to never take the Draft lottery serious. Impossible not to, but it still sucks. Especially when we tanked all year to get here. The only consolation is the magic and jazz didn't get top 3 either, the two we were realistically competing with. LA also didn't win it. That would've been my worst nightmare. We should try to get Love but if we can't, or the price is too high, just trade rondo and then tank again Im not mad at the Cavs though. Be mad at the NBA for this stupid system.

I wouldn't hate the idea of Noah Vonleh. He's still super raw, but is also one of the youngest prospects in this class and has as much upside as any non-top-4 prospect, especially offensively (he's flashed an outside shot, a post game, and enough handle to take guys off the dribble). He's a natural 4, but you can live with him playing the 5. He's not a true rim protector, but he's got enough bulk and length to adequately defend the post and force guys to shoot over him, and he's also a great rebounder on both ends. If the Celtics actually make this pick, I like him more than Randal or Gordon.

I think the Love trade is fairly likely but I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that this is roughly where we were slotted anyway. I like the idea of Smart. The other guys seem like busts to me.

I have a hard time with the phrase "tanked all year". This team busted it's butt. Played hard for most of the season. Maybe it's an argument over semantics bc, I agree, management/ownership set this team up to lose but the phrasing does rub me the wrong way. This was NOT a Sixer-like effort.

Even in the MLB there are teams that just tank and rake in the revenue sharing.

What the Celtics did this year was no worse than what the Red Sox did in 2012. They were semi-competitive the first half of the year, but it then became clear that the team as constituted was going nowhere, so they traded away some pieces and lost a lot of games down the stretch.

How would you rank Vonleh, Randle, Gordon and Smart? With the caveat that I haven't watched a lot of Smart, I'd probably rank it Vonleh, Randle, Smart, Gordon in a vacuum. But given the current Celtics roster, I'd probably draft Gordon before Smart because I don't think he can play with Rondo-- it's just tough to have two guards who can't really shoot threes on the court at the same time.

I agree with that ranking. I'm thinking Randle could easily be gone though (the consensus among mocks today and last night would agree).

Still a pretty good prospect. I've come to terms with it already. I mean we have the Clips first rounder next year (they could implode), Brooklyn's in 2016 and 2018 and thats in addition to our own. Then we have the right to switch with Brooklyn in 2017. Thats a lot to look forward to.

Agreed. I think it's (in order of my preference and sense of likeliness):
Vonleh Smart Randle (again, I'm not sure he's available) Gordon Embiid (Just holding out hope for the unlikely scenario that he withholds his medicals to force his way to Boston)
I guess I'd put a trade for Love above Embiid in that order since I really can't bring myself to placing a higher likelihood on that. I'd add that I can't see anyone else being available that would interest me in trading the 6th pick.

WCP, what do you see/hear that you don't like? I have my concerns but am wondering where yours come from.

I want nothing to do with Smart, and you guys should feel the same way. Vonleh looks like the most likely. I want him more than Randle anyway. Next most likely is probably Randle. I think the Lakers take Smart. I don't think we do. Gordon might even be more likely.
