WMB hitting with power to all fields at 7 is going to drive in some! If X can improve his footwork to be at least mediocre rather than terrible things are going to look a lot better.
Victorino makes tough line drives look routine.

Morrow second pitcher in MLB history to give up 4 ER while walking 8 or more but not allowing a hit. Billy Pierce had a 2.2 0 4 4 9 2 line on August 3, 1948. A modern-day Victor Zambrano, if you will.

I like this better! Of course Fenwaythehardway gets full props for identifying Middlebrooks as a future all of famer.
Now let's see if Clay can hold the line.

It's really, really painful to watch Buchholz nibble with his pitches when he has two strikes on a hitter. He's incapable of challenging people.

We need more runs considering Buck on the mound.

That behind the plate camera angle on the shot to end the last inning really showed how good JBJ is. What a jump.

Another botched hit and run. Farrell refuses to learn.
Surprised Cherrington hasn't called him to the principal's office for a chat.

Glad to see John Farrell has adopted Grady Little's strategy of botching the hit-and-run to avoid the big inning.

Just like the Red Sox coming out and using the shift a bunch last year. Maybe the front office has identified a reason to use it?

Glad to see John Farrell has adopted Grady Little's strategy of botching the hit-and-run to avoid the big inning. There's no strategy that doesn't have some time and place, but it's worth remembering that Ear Weaver hated the ht-and-run, and Weaver was as good a manager as ever lived. Oh, and Morrow just the 4th SP in history to walk 8 while facing 14 or fewer batters (but the first to record more than 6 outs).

Ortiz basically complains any time there's a called strike on him. Even if it's right down the middle.

I think Clay's arm is back from spring break. First time all year he's been sitting 91-93.

what started off as a "oh god here we go again" kinda game has morphed into a promising start so far. Some hard hit balls, even some hard hit outs, WMB looks good and Clay Buchholz after a rough start has looked great from the second on. It's also encouraging that he's been hitting 93 a lot today and even hit 94.
I can't seem to recall but didn't he get about a start or two less worth of innings in spring training? not sure how much of a difference that should make but it definitely doesn't look like he is "injured"
and for the record....just because a guy is pitching bad it doesn't mean he is injured.
