JBJ was a very polished product when he drafted him, having 3 good years at South Carolina. He had about 1,000 minor league plate appearances and has about 300 at the major league level. Watching him play, his bat looks slow, his pitch recognition is below average, and his swing mechanics are often sloppy. I am not saying he sucks. I am just saying At 24 with a lot of baseball under his belt already, I don't see a lot of projection left with him unlike a Xander Boegarts. I think JBJ is what he is: a gold glove CF and bottom third hitter. Nothing wrong with that.
As for X, I would leave him at 3rd and try to trade WMB, but odds are you can't get anything for him because of the injury history. I don't think he is a real major league SS and while I guess the platoon situation will work, it is sloppy.

OK Xander is comfortable at 3B now. You can play him at SS again, Farrell. Yeah, because it's all John Farrell's decision in where Xander plays. Ben says "Hey, what do you think about playing Xander at short today?" and Farrell says "Go straight to hell little man! This is MY team!"

I want to be owner, and then fire John Henry and sink his yacht. Don't forget to hire jmei as team general counsel. I understand he's very good with CBA issues.

I hear all the "let's just make Xander a 3rd baseman" talk and I just shake my head. We have a 21 year old kid who is not that far from league average as a defender statistically and a top 5 bat at SS and you guys want to make him a 3rd baseman already. Don't you think he might get a little better by year end at SS, with some PT in mlb?

He is going to be a third basemen long run so just put him there now and let him learn the position that he is going to play for his career. He has shown great improvement over there already, let that continue and hopefully you are set at 3rd for the next decade.

Nice to see JBJ with a pair of hits, both great contact. Even his out required a nice play by Santana

Bogaerts is worth so much more as a SS if he is even league average. He's still young. I say let him stay there probably for another 8-9 years. We can get a real strong bat at 3rd whereas replacing Bogaerts at SS inevitably will reduce the offense a lot. I still have hope in our 3rd base options in Middlebrooks, Cechinni and maybe even Betts.

Yeah, but he can't drive in any runs... Yeah... Quick! Trade him to SF before he doesn't drive one in next at bat. (I don't have to put this in italics, do I?)

Oh look, Daniel Nava's OBP is now within 3 points of Sizemore's. Looking forward to Victorino's return and the resulting DFA of Grady

Imagine how many times he does that when he's 25.

Imagine how many times he does that when he's 25. It's magical. When you see replays of his rockets, it doesn't even look like there's effort involved or he's swinging hard.
