Holt at 3b next year, Xander back to shortstop and Mookie in CF next year? I think that's promoting a guy to his level of incompetence. It wastes his versatility an exposes his bat.

In a desperate attempt to keep up with Brock Holt, Mike Trout has another 2 HR tonight.

Tell me about it. Striking out every time up and forgetting to even attempt to field his position? Good grief.

If Holt is something like a .280/.340/.380 true-talent player (certainly very plausible, and not that much higher than his .284/.335/.374 Steamer RoS projection), he'd fit in perfectly as the long end of a platoon at 3B with Middlebrooks, with the ability to fill in at 2B/SS/OF as needed.

Can Brock Holt be the best position player on a playoff team?

Did you know that league average 3B production in recent years has only been about 97 wRC+? (I was surprised when I first looked this up.) Also you don't have to waste his versatility, you can have someone like WMB as your bench IFer and move Holt around when you need Brooks to play.

Can Brock Holt be the best position player on a playoff team? Who says he's just a position player. For all we know, he'll pitch this weekend.

Mujica is up in the pen. I would rather have Brock Holt closing out games than Mujica.

So Edward Mujica is in the bullpen warming.
Insert the expletive of your choice.

Well, to the extent that a sub-.400 slugging third baseman can be described as "perfect"... it's not a bad idea but I'd still rather see him in more of a utility role.

Chris Capuano Drake Britton Alex Wilson Steven Wright Mike Carp

The automated projections will heavily, and I think improperly, weight his poor 2013 campaign. I'm in the camp that believes last season was the exception to a consistent track record of success at the plate. So I think those #s are too conservative.

He's hitting the ball with authority and using the wall which he didn't have in AAA. I'll believe he's a sub-.400 SLG guy when he is. He doesn't seem to have any real weaknesses.

6/13 4 batters faced 6/14 1 batter faced 6/15 4 batters faced 6/16 1 batter faced In other words, Andrew Miller is unavailable due to LOOGY duty.

It's not just that Mujica is a total question mark, it's that we're going from the most steady closer in the league to a total question mark.
