Jacoby takes our 5/110 over the Yankees 7/153? What world do you live in? One where if they would of offered it before the end of the season & FA he would of taken it. Jake wasn't all about the money as many on here claim that actually didn't know or read up on him prior to this year. That's quite unrealistic. Do you honestly think Jacoby would have jumped all over a 5 year $110 million offer? You really don't think his agent Scott Bora$ wouldn't have shopped that offer around? You think he still wouldn't have gotten the offer of 7 years $153 million from the Yankees? Get real. He would have shopped the offer to the Yankees (or Dodgers) because they are usually the biggest spenders and if the Yankees would have offered 7 years $153 million, which they did, the Sox would have had to either match or top that offer to retain Ellsbury. Not sure a seven year deal with Ellsbury would be smart, especially at that $ figure. Singles hitters normally don't make $22 million/year. Bradley may or may not in time replace Ellsbury for a fraction of the cost and may or may not have a comparable performance, but I have trouble believing that over seven years the Sox will have zero in performance in CF while Ellsbury plays like an MVP for the Yanks, which is something he's not even doing now. He hasn't shown much power. He's definitely better offensively than Bradley and I wish the Sox had him, but given his price tag, I'm fine with the Sox not payint that over the next seven years. I'd rather they spend it on a power hitting OF when it's time, which is something they don't have in their system. If Bradley can't replace Ellsbury adequately, then I'm pretty sure Mookie Betts will.

Doubront likely to make Fri start for Workman (since his day to pitch), Cecchini likely to be sent back to Pawtucket.

Option Herrera. We don't need four shortstops.

You have been brainwashed to the company line. Get real. Are you aspiring to be a moderator? Maybe you should actually try to defend your argument rather than taking potshots at people. Seems like every time someone disagrees with you, you resort to petty name-calling rather than meaningfully responding. Dr. Proton, when somebody makes stupid or insulting statements towards me, then I shoot back. I am use to "street" fighting' (organizing) and am rough around the edges. Don't drink tea. In your case, you simply will not let anything falsify what you say, and you tend to be a tad zealous defending management. Then you repeat and repeat, almost to the point of shouting down, very fascist like. I respond accordingly. Don't hide behind your niceties. But then again you are a pro management person, just your perspective. I am usually anti-management. Silly boy, don't bother lecturing me. Who do you think you are, a moderator?

Capuano hasn't pitched since the 11th. And, that was the only time since the 6th. DL? Doubie to the pen IMO. Unless, he lights Oakland up.

Well these hitters are mailing this one in.
Getaway day before a west coast swing has never been more obvious. This is embarrassing.

No need to wait for a good pitch with a man in scoring position, AJ. Just swing at whatever.

Let's see how this plays out next year when he is playing for his 2016 option based on plate appearances. If the Red Sox had any semblance of offense he would be sititng more often. This team is unwatchable the way they are playing.

How many runs are we going to score in Oakland and Seattle? Not sure we hit double figures for a total in 7 games.

The Sox have made one of baseball's most mediocre pitchers look like Tom Seaver.
JBJ has one of the worst plate approaches I've ever seen. He's oddly passive against balls in the zone and extremely aggressive at balls down which he can't hit.

The Sox have scored 22 runs on a 7 game homestand with a couple of extra inning gamess mixed in. Scored 22 runs. If they get 1 more, they might go 5-2!! That's almost unthinkable.

He's taking all these strikes early in the count (because that's what you're 'supposed to do') but then has to protect the plate with two strikes. No matter how good his pitch recognition is, he's going to get fooled by good offspeed stuff with two strikes and swing at some bad pitches.

No matter how good his pitch recognition is, he's going to get fooled by good offspeed stuff with two strikes and swing at some bad pitches. You're not supposed to take pitches early in the count. Any Sox instructor who has ever been interviewed by this site or any other has preached "selective aggression." Swing at pitches you can hit and don't swing at pitches you can't hit. Go look at the MLB K% leaders. JBJ has the lowest IsoP by a large margin for any player in the Top 10. Something is clearly wrong. And even if his approach is "solid" by conventional terms, it's clearly not for his talent level. He needs to make some type of adjustment because allowing good pitches to go by early in the count and flailing at bad ones later is not working for him.
