All does draft trade downs are catching up. Not really but it's a good narrative I'd like to believe.

I think it's time to be bold and move Brady. It would do him justice and let him have a good chance to win another SB before he's done and would bring the Pats the draft picks they need to rebuild. Brady has no chance with the roster around him, they blew it terribly with too much talent evaluation lately. Houston is a QB away from being a legit contender. With his former offensive coordinator as head coach, it would be a win-win deal, IMO.

KT has been waived... so much for any hope of improvement.

Well, this is different. The offensive line is actually blocking people, Tim Wright has finally been integrated in the offense, the running game is working, even Danny Amendola got a catch, and #24 is finally playing like DARELLE REVIS.

Stork has a concussion, so the successful unit that played against Cincy likely won't be giving an encore on Sunday. Gotta figure either Wendell or Connolly will slide inside to center. Whom do you guys like at the other guard spot? Devey? Kline? Or do we give Cannon one more shot even though it looks like he can only play Tackle? (Or slide Vollmer inside and play Cannon at tackle?)
Brady questionable with an ankle injury... meaning there's only a 99.5% chance he plays...

I'm not too excited about Deontae Skinner as a starting Linebacker.

I wondered this at the time and the injuries to Mayo and Ridley bring this thought back to my mind ... was Siliga really important enough to use up our IR/Designated to Return spot? OK, I guess James White has been inactive recently anyway so we're not out of depth, but if Mayo or Ridley were hypothetically out for 6-8 weeks we wouldn't want to put those guys on season-ending IR, that's for sure.
As for the linemen, Nate Solder was not the sexiest man on the field today. In fact if I observed correctly he was basically benched in favor of Marcus Cannon after giving up his second sack. And this is a guy analysts have wanted to reserve significant salary cap room for so we can sign him to a big extension. Good thing we didn't jump the gun on that one.

Now excuse me for being a more casual fan of football than baseball but why does it seem like NFL teams don't make as many trades once the season starts? Wouldn't it make sense to try and "buy" to fill some of these holes? Or if your team is out of it, why not sell? Feels like once the season starts there are barely any trades but maybe thats just me.

Scheme matters a lot in football. Unlike baseball, where you can trade for a guy and effortlessly plug him into your lineup, football players spend training camp and each week of the season learning a particular scheme and a particular terminology. You can't really trade for a guy and teach him all the nuances of your offense/defense in a few weeks.

The Salary Cap plays a role too as the trading team still has to pay certain bonuses.

I thought Brady threw the ball better than he had all season yesterday. It's going to be tough to keep him healthy though if he keeps taking so many hits.

Ridley is in a contract year so he probably ends up taking a low-risk 2yr/5mil type deal. Mayo, on the other hand, will most certainly have to renegotiate his contract - a la Wilfork this past offseason.

Uhm, have a look at the contracts handed out to RBs this past offseason. 2yr/$5m is not far off from what Ridley could have expected WITHOUT the injury. Mike Reiss has him in 2013 Edelman territory, i.e. 1yr/$1m.

Yeah, here's a deadspin article on it. I get the rationale behind these moves and support it, but still seems like a grey area of when its acceptable for a ref to do this.
