Storm clouds are gathering. This is an annoying situation, but let's not pretend that this is on anyone other than Bill or the NFL itself for not doing something back then. The worst part is that they absolutely didn't need this, the Pats were clearly the most talented team in the AFC this year.

Yeah someone is going to likely be a fall guy. I dont believe the NFL would be leaking all this info unless they already had some sort of evidence. Hopefully we don't lose more than one pick or anyone is suspended for the super bowl or a long period of time next season.

Looks bad. I think the team looses a pick, Bill gets a fine and gets suspended for the 2015 season and the team/Kraft gets a fine. Hope I'm wrong

Stern is historically one of the best commissioners ever. Goodell is historically one of the worst. Well, at least the second sentence is true.

I think if they can somehow prove Belicheck is involved he may be suspended for part of next season but the entire season? Thats overdoing it.

You might see next season that the game balls are put under lock and key after the ref inspected them and only released just before kickoff. That would solve that problem.
If you recall, the green dot on the linebackers helmet came about right after spygate. The filming was about defensive signals. So, that solved that problem.
I'm hoping that doctoring the balls happens all the time throughout the league, which would take the sting out of this thing. Maybe.

Offenses should be able to do whatever the hell they want for their balls.

What a dumb situation. Dumb that they did it to that extent, dumb that the Colts bitched about it, dumb that it's this big of a deal, and dumb that they've already been rebranded as cheaters after a game in which the inflation of the balls mattered none. The NFL has turned into a joke. Really man...the NFL is not a joke. It's the people playing the game and running the org's that are the joke. This is a premier franchise in the league and it looks bad. The NFL didn't do it. The Patriots did...there are rules..it's too bad if their too much trouble to follow. Want to change it...do so through the rules committee. I would hope that the head coach gets suspended for a big part of next year. He needs to be brought down a peg. Full Disclosure...I don't like the Pats....at all. The NFL is a joke. That doesn't mean I don't love to watch it or follow it, but it's had one ridiculous situation after another. Now this situation isn't the fault of the NFL but how they handle it will be interesting. There are more than enough people, coaches and players who talk about this not being a big deal and being blown way out of proportion. That it's blown out of proportion isn't the fault of the NFL, it's the media and Patriots haters. If the NFL over-reacts to something that they knew was going on (you're fooling yourself if you don't believe that) and didn't care enough about it to easily prevent it then they are giving another example or botched discipline. There are plenty of things we can point to for the NFL being a joke but this isn't one of them just yet... I think their initial statements were dumb and bordered on it but I'll await their ruling first. Regarding BB getting suspended, everyone who I've heard talk about how this goes down says the HC is not part of it. If someone should be it's probably Brady.

I can't even talk to a lot of non-Patriots fans calling for the Colts to go to the Super Bowl instead and Belichik being banned from the NFL. It's so out of hand.

For me these are the odds for punishment on this thing:
100% fine 70% loss of draft pick(s) 20% suspension in any capacity 0% disqualification
1000000000000000% rule change

Philosophical question:
If Active Player X says "In 2013, I used steroids all year but the league didn't catch me". What would happen to him? Does the league have to catch him in the act?
Of course, I ask bc I would assume that player can still be punished (maybe that's a big assumption). And if that player can be punished, and Brady and the Pats get punished for this incident (which I assume is what's going to happen0, why wouldn't the league go back and punish Aaron Rodgers for admitting to doctoring the football to the point of making it outside the rules?

There are plenty of nefarious happenings in life that are done with no trail of evidence. This isn't a court of law..someone on the Patriots did this. Do you think they didn't?

I can't believe the way Dawkins, Bettis, and Brunell acted after Brady's press conference. Unless they are privy to some evidence that the rest of the world doesn't know about, they should be ashamed of themselves. Why would you have three guys who got their asses kicked by Brady give their opinions?

Brady should have stayed quiet or thrown a couple of "balls" puns. Anything would be better than that evidently nervous press conference. Bill really didn't help him either. Don't be surprised to see Brady retiring after the SB if this issue lingers.

Don't be surprised to see Brady retiring after the SB if this issue lingers. Yeah if only he was emotionless everyone would've believed him, that's worked so well for Aaron Hernandez. Obviously Brady couldn't do anything to convert the people who've had their mind made up. He took questions and flatly denied any involvement. Sure, he could be lying, but criticizing his demeanor and ignoring his words is laughable to me. Brady isn't retiring after the Super Bowl barring career ending SB injury. A lot of conflicting reports about particular details from the "investigation" are out there, so I've heard different conspiracy theories. The people with a black or white viewpoint, "The Brunell's" if you will, assume that the balls were illegally deflated and therefore Brady had to be involved in the illegal deflating. Doesn't that by default mean you believe Brady trusted at least one person to handle the shady illegal activity on his behalf and keep the secret indefinitely? Doesn't that theory seem kind of suspect as well? I can't see Brady trusting his legacy to a random clubhouse attendant, or a group of attendants all in on the scam. People talk, especially people who have secret information about famous people. Anyone who is claiming to have the definitive answer behind this story is a fool. I thought the Borges questions were the most ironic thing in a while. Here's Brady, accused of cheating, standing up and taking questions while denying any involvement. Borges (a guy who was called a plagiarist and punished for it yet never made a personal statement to defend himself) disregards Brady's words and suggests he's lying based on illogical false equivalencies.
