I am expecting a bounce back performance from Buchholz tonight, can he get much worse? ? Also hoping to see Cecchini start the next 6 games. Like what I have seen from Garin and i think its crucial for him to get at bats.

6 more losses would help our draft position in a big way.

While 3 hits in nine ABs is a SSS, I suppose his 4 Ks are as well. But I agree, though it may not be critical, Garin should play the remaining 6 games with Rivero in for a LHP. I've seen all of WMB that I need to see

6 more losses would help our draft position in a big way. Man, I just can't go there. I'd prefer to see the kids gain some confidence, win some games and close out this dismal season on a high note. There are only a handful of Strausburg's and Trout's available in any given year. We draft a Harper and the expectation/pressure will ruin it for all involved. FWIW, I'd be happy with a monster power 1Bman pick and hope for a George Scott or Mo' Vaughn as opposed to mid level pick a-la Lars Anderson.

And to think, twenty four teams passed on Trout. Sox picked #28 that year.

The Angels are probably kicking themselves on passing on Jay Bruce too.

Agreed on Cechinni. Play him. Think he would have been given more of a chance since PawSox season ended had they wanted to give him a real look. Maybe a platoon situation the remaining week, but no more. It will take dumb luck for Cecchini to get an honest look now, or have to put up another .400+ OBP year in the minors. FO would rather watch the horrid Middlebrooks sideshow instead.

I hope this offseason someone comes to us with an offer for Buchholtz. I mean legit offer. I feel he will never put it toghether. Classic tease. One month good, one bad. Then Dl 30 days. Then he has a great Sept next year and Ben exercises the option for 2016. We go thru it again.

Buccholz would be much better off in the NL. Probably isn't worth that much though.

I'm going to the game tomorrow. Can't wait to get a look at Betts and Castillo.

Middlebrooks scratched right hand sprain: can he ever stay healthy? But not being healthy is his only reliable trend.

OK, Cespedes' fear of walls is a real problem.

OK, Cespedes' fear of walls is a real problem. Yeah, Buccholz was betrayed by bad D, on a ball that's an easy out just about everywhere else.

My god. Mookie falls behind 0-2, works the count full, and doubles to left on an inside changeup on the 12th pitch of the AB. Watching his pitch recognition skills is so awesome. Identified change, keeps his weight back perfectly, and turns on the pitch, I love it. This type of AB has become a bit of a regular thing for him, so I checked the MLB P/PA leaders, and he comes in at 4.24 pitches seen per plate appearance. That ranks 13th among players with >150 AB's. Wow.
Also, Cecchini has hit the ball on a line in all 3 AB's, with one of them nearly clearing the wall in RF.

I hope everyone really appreciates how good this kid is and the potential he has. There isn't one batter out of 20 with the skills to do that to a pitcher like Boxberger, who's pretty damned good. He easily fought everything off till he got a pitch to his liking and rifled that thing down the line, again. There is no pitching him low and inside. You're in a world of hurt if you do.

And he's only 21. And he had fewer than 400 AB in AA & AAA combined before getting to the bigs.
Meanwhile with an overstocked bullpen coming off an off day there was almost no reason for Farrell to bring Buchholz back for the 8th and no reason to leave him in once Clay put a man on. Cespedes fear of walls aside (looking more like Cody Ross every day with the wall aversion, minus the arm of course).
