Quick poll, would you rather Revis go back to the Jets, or Moncada have gone to the Yankees?

Adam Schefter ?@adamschefter 31s31 seconds ago Well, this is interesting: Bills also expressing interest in free-agent CB Darrelle Revis, per sources. Rex does love his CBs... He's gone. We're back to the good ol Ellis Hobbs LCB days. Get lost, overreacters. Remember when everyone was declaring the Broncos Super Bowl champs after Day 1 of free agency? Haha. I do, I live in Denver. I don't overreact to additions, but losing your two starting CB's and starting Chung without them is a huge hit. I couldn't care less that the Pats are on the verge of getting spiller and harvin. Losses are bigger

If he's getting $40 million guaranteed, then Revis to the Jets.

I mean, they're starting Chung whether or not they sign Revis.
By the way, I'm not convinced he's gone. There's a good chance he'll give the Patriots one last chance to respond to the best offer he gets elsewhere, and Belichick may well decide to match (or come close enough that Revis returns).

@benvolin: I’m told Revis wants $40 mil guaranteed over 3 years and the #Patriots balked at the full guarantee If true that's absurd they won't pay him I think Pats should offer him 5 years 16 million per for a total of 80 million. I would be wiling to guarantee 48 million of it. If he wants 40 million in first three years I have no problem with that. Think deal needs to be structured as so Revis cap number is around 10 million next year. Would make his base salary crazy low in the first year, low in second and ok in third, then crazy amounts in year 4 and 5. With the thinking that we cut or restructure after 3 years. Heck maybe we make it a six year deal just to spread out the guaranteed money more.
Anyway if they don't sign him it will be a huge mistake. You don't let Browner walk out the door unless your using that money on Revis!!!!

Quick poll, would you rather Revis go back to the Jets, or Moncada have gone to the Yankees? Moncada to the Yankees easily. We're going back to the days of getting torched by guys like Eli without revis. Those days when if the other team had the final possession with a chance to win it, the game felt like it was over. People forget the 4th and 2 thing but the defense was so bad back then they had to do stuff like that.

Well he's a Jet... Now we need to see the numbers to find out if the Pats are idiots or the Jets are and it's just unfortunate. I'd love to know if they ever had a real chance before he hit the market.

He's getting more than $40 million guaranteed.
Dreadful deal by the Jets, as expected.

Does anyone else not really get the Graham to Seattle move? He's a really good player, don't get me wrong, but isn't he the anti-Seahawk? He won't help with the run game and he lacks toughness. I thought I remembered that he had a terrible game against the Seahawks in the postseason last year so I looked it up. In the most important game of the Saints' season, he had one catch for eight yards on six targets. Pats fans know how Talib smothered him last year as well. Seattle has Okung, Wagner, and Wilson (per overthecap) set to become free agents next off season and they may have put themselves in a tight situation with the cap by adding a guy like Graham. They lost two starting players in Unger and Carpenter (to the Jets) from an average o-line (FWIW I'm a bitter Graham fantasy owner).

The thing about trading for a guy in the NFL is the cap hits are typically his salary as the original team carries the bonus money so they get graham for 3/27...
I find it more interesting that they have lost a couple key linemen.

What I really don't get is sending Nick Foles and a boatload of draft picks to the Rams for the privilege of paying Sam Bradford $13 million dollars to maybe play football.
Chip Kelly has lost his mind.

Withholding final judgment until I see the official #s, but we lost an All-Pro at the 2nd most important position on the field. How the hell can we even attempt to replace that? Adding good CB and pass rusher are a start, but there's no way...

Second most important position on the field. And he's not just some corner.

Chip Kelly has lost his mind. Very awful deal because I still think Foles is a starting QB in this league and Bradford is a walking IR machine. HOWEVER, not justifying the deal but trying to find reason in it, Bradford is more talented than Foles, Sanchez and Kaepernick. It's such a waste his body just doesn't allow him to play football, the only other college QB that has ever impressed me as much as he was Andrew Luck (who, as my posting history shows, is my obvious binky).

So spotrac currently estimates $14.5m in cap room for the Patriots. Whom can they possibly spend it on? Antonio Cromartie would make sense, of course, but I bet there's another team more desperate for the only good cornerback left on the market than the Pats are. Brian Orakpo? Terrance Knighton?

Ian Rapoport @rapsheet · 6m6 minutes ago Full terms RT @mmehtanydn: Breakdown of Revis contract: $16M FULLY gtd, $17M fully guaranteed, $15M ($6M fully gtd), $11M, $11M #nyj That's a super front-loaded deal that the Patriots would have really struggled to match, considering their limited cap space this year and next. To get to $48m in the first three years, $39m of it guaranteed, they would have had to push a ton of dead money (prorated signing bonus) into the third, fourth, and fifth year of the deal, and that's not how Belichick and the Patriots like to do things. They would have had to do something like $25m signing bonus, $4m base in year one, $7m base in year two (first two years fully guaranteed), $3m guaranteed, $10m total base in year three, $12m base in years four and five. But that'd give them cap numbers of $9m, $12m, $15m, $17m, and $17m, with $5m in dead money per year, which is the kind of stuff that gets teams like the Cowboys and Saints in cap hell. I still might have considered coming close to matching, considering how good Revis is, and the first few years of the deal would have been great. But those later years (when he's in his mid-30s) would be painful, and Belichick has never been one to sacrifice the future for the present. Trust the process. Walter Thurmond is a free agent I'd have my eyes on-- he's a good buy-low guy who is a very good man cover corner. Rashean Mathis was great last year, and while his age is something to watch, it also means he'll come cheaper and might take a discount to play for a contender. Cromartie is the closest thing to a guy who can match up with number one receivers, but he's getting older and is inconsistent. Chris Culliver is a nice size/speed combo but is not a lockdown guy. Tramon Williams is better as a zone corner, but they might go shift to more zone with Revis gone (Logan Ryan is another guy who is better in zone than man).

I can think of a half-dozen needs. They could use another third-down back (Helu or Bush), an edge rusher (Sheard, Orakpo), a DT (I doubt Knighton, since he's going to be looking for the most cash he can get, but I could see someone like Dan Williams, who is very underrated), a guard (Clint Boling?), or maybe an offensive luxury like Jordan Cameron or Cecil Shorts.
