If the Celtics stand pat, I would love Hunter in the mid-teens.
I'm not as high on WCS - he's a bit one-dimensional and plays a position that's become devalued over the past half decade. At 16 he'd be a steal, but I can't imagine him dropping that far. He certainly doesn't seem like a guy worth trading up for.

I really like Hunter if we stay at 16. I think WCS is really overrated. As he is just an okay rim defender, doesn't rebound that well and seems lost when trying to score. Sure he might be great at pick and roll D, but best comp out there is Birdman. He is not a Tyson Chandler or DeAndre Jordon type of player, so unless he falls to 16 I say no thanks!!! As to trading up to 9 only player I really think is going to be worth the cost is Stanley Johnson, who I think is one of the best 3-4 players in the draft.

www.sheridanhoops.com/2015/06/17/mock-draft-5-0-1-all-the-latest-intel/Not sure how linked in this guy is but I seem to recall Sheridan having some connections when he was at ESPN (so I'm going with the theory that this is a legit site that would hire folks who might have some legit insight). He talks about trading up with NY (which makes sense given some of the folks they've brought in) or Den with Porzingis and WCS being targets. Indirectly connected to Boston, he talks about discussions between Sac and Den regarding Cousins, Lawson and Faried.

Here is my mock draft and players to target;
16- I am looking at Bobby Portis, Jerrian Grant, RJ Hunter and Tyus Jones. Now I say this thinking Myles Turner and Stanley Johnson or no other big names drop a ton. Most mocks think that most of these players should be there at 16. I think I would go Grant, Portis, Hunter and then Jones. I look at Grant and just see the most pro potential of the four. Only reason he is so low if based on age and that doesn't worry me. Grant has been a player for all four season he played at College. People worry about shooting but I think he will be fine. He also has great size, really good passer, can also play 2 guard, gets to FT line a ton and is very good there. Sure you can say we don't need another PG, picking best overall players not just what fits team. Portis just seems like a Very solid player across the board, with great size and production. I really like Hunter but I worry about his weight at 185 and 6'6'' he doesn't seem to have an NBA body. Besides that he does everything you want from a SG. Then there is Tyus Jones and he just reminds me of Mike Conley, he's a winner that can really play the point.
28 and 33 Looking at Terry Rozier, Chris McCollough, Christian Wood, Jordan Mickey, Rakeem Christmas and Dakari Johnson. I find it really hard to pick just two as I really like all of these players. With Robert Upshaw being the Wildcard. If he is healthy and not a total nut I would take him at 28 and for sure at 33.
45- Aaron White Joseph Young, Vince Hunter, Anthony Brown and Cady LaLane.

Sure chard Ford isn't that great and can make big mistakes and write crap. But he has sources, he talks to league personal and scouts all year long, those are sources!!! To say that Chard Ford can't scout players is a very fair statement, but saying he has no sources is just a big fat lie!

It's a free world, but for two years you keep going off that Ford has no sources and never once have you backed up your claims with facts or proof. So how are your claims not unfounded? Your claims are simple your opinion, nothing more. As an ESPN insider I read everything he writes and I really don't care for him, but he clearly has sources. He attends all pre draft camps and the combine where he gets to talk with scouts and NBA personal, hence how can you say he has no sources? He is the top NBA draft guru for the top sports company in the world, that alone gets him sources. If you fail to see that you just hate him for some unknown reason, what is it?

Yes I read Chad Ford I already said that, but I have also read almost every mock draft on the web also. I have also read every scouting report I can find and studied each players stats from college. Almost every mock draft and draft expert has both Grant and Jones going in the top 20 range. Those include cnnsi.com, nbadraft.net, draftexpress, CBS sports, yahoo sports and many more. So why would they be wasted picks? Who do you think the Celtics should take instead?
Also I view Grant as one of the safest picks in the whole draft, so very little chance of that being a wasted pick. He will be an above average player in the NBA. Maybe you feel PG isn't a big need which it isn't but in the NBA draft you take the best player available every single time, you never draft for need. This isn't the NFL draft.

Comcast is now reporting that the Celtics trade up target is Myles Turner.

Do people actually go back to read what Chad Ford wrote years ago? That would be only way him editing something would get noticed. He does seem to get a lot of access from agents and league executives so I wouldn't fault anyone for reading his stuff if they like that sort of spin.
As for the draft a Dominican is going 1 it looks like so that's great. I wondered if the Celtics could trade high enough to get Hezoja but that's impossible.
I don't know much about the prospects this year other than the presumed #1 pick but Myles Turner doesn't strike me as the rim protector guy that the Cs seem to be looking for he also seems like a stretch 4 which they already have on the roster. Not saying they shouldn't draft him, they should just go BPA no matter what. I wonder if the real target is Kelly Oubre who is getting a lot of play in the early teens.

Comcast is now reporting that the Celtics trade up target is Myles Turner. I would assume this has been the plan all along. I'm a fan of Turner. He's very active down low. Will rebound as well as protect the rim. The shooting touch gives him some offensive value, but he also has pretty good feel as a passer. However, I dont understand why anyone would be calling him a stretch 4. He lacks the fluidity to stay in front of the majority of power forwards in the game today. Guys like Blake Griffin, Paul Millsap and Draymond Green would give a player like Turner fits on the perimeter. He would be exclusively a center wherever he ends up. Therein lies the problem; how valuable is a guy who can only guard one position? Look at Andrew Bogut; this guy's a top ten center in the WORLD and got benched during the finals in favor of small ball. I know it's easy to dismiss Willy Cauley-Stein for his lack of, um, polish. But the ability to defend five positions in the NBA would instantly make him at least a Tristan Thompson type player. I would be awfully surprised if the Celtics traded up and picked Turner with WCS still on the board.

The problem I have with WCS is that D is the only thing he really does. Tristan Thompson is a better rebounder and offensive player then WCS is likely to ever be. Also people need to stop with the he can guard all 5 positions. because he can't. Sure he can switch on the pick and roll and cover guards or small forwards from time to time, but he can't guard small forwards and guards on a full time basis. Best case he is a Kevin Garnett type defender, without his offensive and rebounding. I don't see WCS ever averaging 10 rebounds per game for a season based on his college numbers. Also he is not an elite rim protector like DeAndre Jordan, just a good one. If a team picks WCS before a player like Stanly Johnson they will be kicking themselves for years to come. To me WCS is a birdman/Kendrick Perkins type of player. For me WCS should be in the 10-16 range, not the 6-10 range most people are talking about(heck rumors have the Knicks at 4 thinking about him). You all remember Perkins right? We were a much better defensive team with him on the floor, but he killed us on the offensive end and didn't rebound well
Does anyone have a better comp for WCS??? I just can't think of another player in the NBA for the last 20 years that had a skill set like his that made a huge impact. Almost all the players that come to mind were elite rim protectors and elite rebounders. I also worry that an elite player like Towns made him look better then he is. Everyone is talking about the huge jump he made this year, how much of that was due to Towns?
Given the choice of Turner or WCS I would take Turner. Per minute Turner blocks more shots and gets more rebounds and has an offensive game that is light years ahead of WCS. I see Turner as having a chance of turning into an All Star, I think WCS has a zero % chance of ever being an all star type player. The Celtics need a franchise player, not another role player!!

LA Times saying Boston is talking about Smart, #16 & #28 to Philly for Noel and #3.
Don't think I like that idea

I wouldn't mind that trade at all. Noel is the rim protecting big we need and we can get D'angelo Russell.
Smart is a good player, but he won't be a star. Noel and Russell both have tremendous upside.

Wouldn't s uprising me if they are going up their for Porzingis though. Spacing is such a big component now and KP would provide (long term) rim protection as well as offense.
My concern with Noel is that he's already had a major injury, he is limited offensively (maybe not as bad as WCP, but still) but, unlike WCP may not have the defensive flexibility.

That being said, it's easy to see Philly valuing Noel just as high as Smart which means you're looking at 16 and 28 for 3, which would not make sense for the Sixers.

LA Times saying Boston is talking about Smart, #16 & #28 to Philly for Noel and #3. Don't think I like that idea I love that idea. Think of it this way-- would you trade Smart (the sixth pick last year) for #3? Answer's gotta be yes, right? And I would definitely trade #16 and #28 for Noel. You lose two years of the rookie contract but get a promising high-floor big man. I'm sure Danny got laughed off the phone for that one. ADD: check out what the Sixers blogs have to say about it (I agree): www.libertyballers.com/2015/6/23/8832413/sixers-offered-marcus-smart-for-nerlens-noel-and-he-third-overall-pick

Value for value, it's in Boston's favor for sure. I just probably like Smart too much and don't love Noel (may not be rational).
Again, not sure if they'd go Russell or Porzingis once up there.

I dunno why Philly would do that trade.
If i have #3 and Nerlens Noel im looking at Demarcus Cousins(obviously would have to add more) not Marcus Smart and a couple mid/late first rounders. I realize Philly is a long way off competing but id take Russell if im them for sure.

Short answer, they probably wouldn't (since they, if the rumors of the discussions are even true, turned it down). Noel vs Smart, some felt Smart had slightly more value bc he had one more year on his deal but, otherwise, I'm assuming Boston would have to throw something in.
I'm sure Philly will throw their hat into the Cousins ring but I'm guessing that they wouldn't be at the top of his list (an important factor, considering his penchance for being disgruntled).
